The church, as a whole, is yet under condemnation. The curse has never been lifted. Never.
Just like Steve, I liked his grandfather.[/quote]
BAck in the day I tried to make the point with President Benson that reading the Book of Mormon is not enough and that the key to removing the condemnation was to repent and get the gospel according to that standard that is written in the Book of Mormon, even the baptism of fire and of the Holy Ghost.
President Benson replied to the outline that I sent in with a nice personal letter. Then he fell ill. Shucks.

Are you saying that you almost redeemed the church?
NL, ET was on top of that. If the Mormon God wanted a John Birch Society member healthy enough to run His church, there would have been a very small miracle. There wasn't.
The Mormon God had other plans for His church (to let them remain under condemnation).

You mean almost got a few people in the Church redeemed? I don't redeem anybody. Somebody might have panicked thinking I had a shot. I would have had to convert President Benson first. According to his 1985 October conference talk on being born again he was clueless. But he was interested. Hmm?

I have no idea what you are attempting to convey here. You want to give it a proof read?

Where's your problem? Converting Benson? He was obviously not fully converted. He had not partaken of the Heavenly gift and been truly wrought upon and cleansec by the baptism of fire and of the Holy Ghost. If he ever was then he would have taught it correctly instead of simply saying that when you gumption up and determine to follow Christ then you are born again. Totaly incorrect advice about being born again. And what the Church needed to get out from under the condemnation of the Father was to DO ACCORDING TO WHAT IS WRITTEN IN THE Book of Mormon and that is the Baptism of fire and of the HG.

I think I'm agreeing with you 100%. The Book of Mormon is a manual on how to become a Child of Christ and emulating Charity. Everything else remains insignificant compared to these principles. Everything.
But the church isn't about the gospel (above). It's about the package deal which diminishes the overall intent and purpose of the atonement. The lesson manual Jesus is all about returning to belong in his Rameumtum social club, or, just simply getting an answer as to where you may have left your car keys.
Those clowns who have written the Book of Mormon lesson manuals over the years demonstrate no indication that they read it (or even understood it). I never used the worthless manual in nearly all the 12 years I taught gospel doctrine classes. I stuck with the required weekly reading but taught directly from it's pages.
