I will. Don't worry.

Uh huh.

I'll contact you by PM, if that's all right, when I want to discuss these things with you.

Incidentally, do you know Scratch? You should really get to know him, if you don't already. A marvelous fellow. You two should spend much of each day with each other.

I see no need for communicating via PM, we can do it here or, if you prefer, do a new topic thread.

Byron, my friend, I'm afraid you completely missed the good doctor's point.

Hence my second paragraph, or didn't you read that far?

ByronMarchant wrote:I have recently communicated with Bauer's biographer Douglas Moggach:

who has affirmed that there is no English Translation of the 1877 book (although some of his earlier works have been translated into English). If that is mistaken I will love to know about it.

Well, unless the title alone was translated, this looks promising:

Christ and the Caesars: The Origin of Christianity from Romanized Greek Culture
By Bruno Bauer, Frank E. Schacht
Contributor Frank E. Schacht
Published by Charleston House Pub, 1999
ISBN 0966997700, 9780966997705
359 pages

Thanks,

I have ordered it from ILL (InterLibrary Loan) where I live. If they can find it I will let you know.

I thought PM meant something like "Personal Memo" and is at the bottom of these posts. I'm not interested in having any private communication with the good doctor. Maybe you can tell me what I missed?

LOL. I'm going to try to bow out of this thread, lest I be accused (as I commonly am) of attempting to make it about me.

Absolutely ridiculous. I have two degrees from BYU, both of which I will hold up against similar degrees obtained from any other university. I am currently employed in the biotech industry doing cutting edge genetic research. Your claim that BYU is a seminary is completely unfounded and offensive. Look, I'm a critic of the church's truth claims too. I'm also a critic of LDS apologetics. When you make statements like the one I quoted above, you lose credibility.

My claim is intended to be offensive. If it was not true, it would not be offensive.

Are you serious? Your claim is offensive because you are misrepresenting the education of numerous posters on this board who have attended BYU. If you want to continue your blatant misrepresentation, carry on. Just understand that your credibility on any issue is now suspect. If that works for you, so be it.

The question is, are you serious? Have you never been told by anyone who attended BYU or taught there that BYU is a seminary? You live a sheltered life.

Did you ever have a professor who, because he or she spoke out, lost a teaching job at BYU? My goodness, the censorship happens at the U of U (because the Utah Legislature is almost all LDS), let alone BYU.

By the way, silentkid, what is your real name?
