Now your describing FARMS!

Some Schmo wrote:Well, what a fine example of you defending your faith. I can't for the life of me imagine why you draw the antagonism you do given such innocuous little remarks. Such a mystery!
Daniel Peterson wrote: Sorry to have upset you, you gentle and charitable soul, you. Take some smelling salts, lie down for a few minutes, and you'll be just fine.
Some Schmo wrote:First you completely avoid turning the thread into one about you (when has that ever happened anyway?) and then you demonstrate just how innocent you are in your internet dealings... I've never been this shocked in my life!

Still missing that part of your brain?
Here's what GP said: "I apologize for my baseless polemics, bishop. I will strive to keep the conversation intellectual in the future. Friends?"
Here's how I replied, in what GP describes as my "smacking him down": "GP, I really don't hold grudges. Ray A can attest to that, when he's not angry with me. I'm happy to be mutually respectful. But if you pronounce me, publicly, to be a dishonorable person who is happy to harm others, and so forth, it's very possible that I'll respond. I'm not the monster of Scratch's fantasies, nor the uncaring ideological hack of Ray's latest posts."
To which GP responds, striving to "keep the conversation intellectual" and avoid "baseless polemics":Gadianton Plumber wrote:Throws doubt on your mental abilities. . . . You ratted him out. Ask him. Eric, did the good bishop rat you out? Ask anyone else here. Anyone else, did lumpy rat Eric out? . . . bishy . . . I smell a rat, I am calling a rat . . . Danny Blob is a rat.
High quality stuff. Very intellectual.
When a philosophical ethicist of this quality finds fault with something I've done, it's an occasion for real soul-searching
Daniel Peterson wrote: Heh heh heh. My fiendish plot worked! By showing up here to make the stunning and controversial claim that people here have no standing nor competence to pronounce judgment upon relationships within a family that doesn't post here, simply on the basis of a son's or stepson's account of things that one or more others in the family might well dispute, I've managed to make the thread about me!

And, no doubt, you'll go on doing it.
No, I don't forgive you for something you clearly plan to continue to do.
I don't really care about you that much. I'm entirely willing to be civil and polite, but, if that's not your choice, I'm fine with that, too. I don't, you see, believe that people who insult me and mock me and slander me make me look bad. Not, anyhow, in the eyes of anybody whose opinion I would ever care about.
Take, Some Schmo, for example. One of the least serious, least substantive, least coherent posters on the board (which is saying quite a bit, actually). Does his contempt for me lessen me in the eyes of any fair-minded, reflective person? I can't imagine that it does. If anything does, it's probably the fact that I even pay him any minimal attention. Wrestling with pigs, and all that.
