Anyone and everyone can apply the word special to themselves if it meets the criteria shown in the dictionary definition. It's a matter of making a case. I’m just going by the dictionary. You don’t have to if you don’t want to.
Besides, Roger Morrison agrees with me!

But Paul, i think JAK is trying to point gramatical correctness out to you. OTOH, I pointed out, or attempted to: Mormonism's "Specialness" is anything but positive, complimentary--except to TBMs indoctrinated to believe--or supportive by any
material evidence. As pointed out in comparing LDSism to Bernie Madoff's ponzi, both are built on word-of-mouth recommendations (witnesses) that were/are wanted to be believed. That some enjoy the benefit of their belief gives little credibility to either scheme.
When the time comes that Mormonism--along with other Christian sects--are put under the microscope, and transparency is demanded, Mormonism will be seen for what it is: An autocratic, deceptive, totalitarian misrepresentation of history and archeology... An institution that exploits the good intentions of its members by intimidation and fallacy. When intelligence enters into religion, as it has the sciences, and accountability is demanded, Mormonism will quickly remake itself, or it won't survive...
