Now here is one "Mr Peterson" will do the white glove to:

Post by _Joey »

Look I love Utah and all and these great nites but I got some birds to kill tonight. Wife left for SF today for meetings. What can I say, tired after golf and got to fly to Vegas tomorrow. Feel like a BYU prof in front of a TV and laptop!!!!

But His Greatness really thows some s*** out there, eh?

In a response to my 4th question, His Greatness seems to say that Smith was experiencing a "rugged sectarian insularity, and a wariness toward secular authority borne of having experienced government persecution" when responding to my claim that he [Smith] violated the law of the land!!!

So, your Greatness, where in your supposed revelations from "God" was there a "gov't persecution" out? How was it determined and how ofter could it be used?

Mr. Peterson, (am trying to be respectful now), what was the persecution that Prophet Smith was facing, and how significant was it, that allowed him to violate a revelation from God? Have any prophets been allowed the liberty/passage since?

Now I really rarely spend this much time at this place, especially when I am trying to get away. Even when I am this close to Provo and Olivewood Think!!!

But I would be the first to give His Greatness the opportunity to reply. He is the expert after all!!!

Let him get back from his "interviews" A bit scarey to me, but vat r interview my darling?

What are you? Seven years old?

The quotation that I provided wasn't in answer to your silly question, and it wasn't about Joseph Smith. It was in response to your general questioning of Mormon patriotism. Here it is again:

"Mormons exhibit a unique blend of American patriotism, rugged sectarian insularity, and a wariness toward secular authority borne of having experienced government persecution."

Well my first thought is that most, if not all, reacted to the interview request as I would have. Not much time allowed/invited!! If it was ever planned/contemplated to begin with it?

Now, beyond that, it appears that Peterson, His Greatness, or whatever name he wants reverence to this week, has done the Robert Millet on and refused to answer. "Don't answer the question they asked, answer the question they should have asked."

Here was the specific question: "So, your Greatness, where in your supposed revelations from "God" was there a "gov't persecution" out? How was it determined and how ofter could it be used?"

If you need context again, just ask!

Providing, of course, that your "interviews" are over (at past 10 pm Utah time now) or if you are through with the Power Point Presentation for the Las Vegas Christianity Casino Presentation on a Saturday morning with turn out expected for a HUGE FIGHT WEEKEND (Billy Graham would be laughing by now!!!). I know, I know, (and this is with splittin gut), it will be a well attended presentation on the Book of Mormon.

Oh god i need to bring a cup o coffee and an camera to this one!!!!

Pardon me, but what in the Sam Hell are you talking about?

Help a brother out.

I did my bishop's interviews tonight rather than on Wednesday night, as I typically do, because I have to head down to Las Vegas tomorrow. Shifting the interview day seems to have reduced the traffic, so I was home by 9:30 or so instead of the typical midnight.

I've been invited to make a presentation at FreedomFest 2009 in Las Vegas on the Book of Mormon, and to participate in a panel with Michael Shermer on "sacred texts." There will be roughly 1500 people at FreedomFest, probably, but I don't know how many will come to my sessions. Perhaps only a few Mormons; perhaps two hundred raging disciples of Ayn Rand. Most will undoubtedly go to sessions on things like investing in gold, libertarian economic theory, and so forth.

Joey seems to imagine that I think I'm doing something like a Billy Graham crusade in Las Vegas. I'm not sure why. In fact, I'll be giving a more or less academic-style introductory presentation. In the same series of lectures, a rabbi, a Christian minister, a Muslim imam, and a Sikh will be introducing their "sacred texts."

Joey imagines that I'll be giving a PowerPoint presentation in Las Vegas. I don't know where he came up with this. (I won't be.)

Hope that helps.

Ahh yes, it does. Thank you.

Now I can make heads or tails of just what the heck he was talking about.
