I look forward to it. However, I am not outraged by stalking in the least. Rather, my only contribution to this thread is to point out that certainly civility is lacking. Civility should be applauded and encouraged. But I'm not all that convinced you're the spokesman for civility.

You are making it more complicated that it is. My sole point is that Beastie is in no position to be denouncing somebody else for lack of civility.

To Beastie: If it offends you that I have charged you with stalking me, the please allow me to withdraw the charge. To me, stalking is in the eye of the beholder; if I am wrong to label stalking as using personal family information without one's consent to gain a tactical advantage, then I am wrong. I admit my error. You're not stalking me. Moreover, I accept your apology. You're a wonderful person. I look forward to more pleasant conversation without reference to my wife and children.

OK, is there anything in that pathetic list of your that irreversibley condemns her to the Oort Cloud of Pahoran? How is "think of England" an assault on your wife or children? It sounds like an insult to you. It sounds like she was calling you ugly. You know, "you so ugly yo woman gotta think of England."

Beastie's beastly remark was, "I guess that means your wife laid back and thought of England seven times." The expression "lie back and think of England" dates to World War II and refers to prostitutes putting out for soldiers and sailors.

As such, it is an inexpressibly vile thing to say to someone.

This was an expression supposedly used in the United Kingdom during the Victorian Era. Traditionally, it was advice given to a woman - usually from a mother to her daughter about to be married - about dealing with sexual intercourse with her husband.

The origins of the phrase are unclear, but it is generally attributed to Lady Alice Hillingdon (1857-1940), supposedly writing in her journal in 1912:

I am happy now that George calls on my bedchamber less frequently than of old. As it is, I now endure but two calls a week, and when I hear his steps outside my door I lie down on my bed, close my eyes, open my legs and think of England.

However, the journal's location is unknown and this attribution is therefore unverified, the stuff of urban legend.[2] It is also sometimes attributed to Queen Victoria, either as a description of childbirth or of sex, but no evidence exists for this attribution.

To me, it sure looks like it is an insult to the man and not the woman.
