When they open the books, we'll know they're actually intending to live the principles of the gospel.
I'll wait for the manual to surface. It ain't official until the fat lady sings.

(Nevo, Jan 23) And the Melchizedek Priesthood may not have been restored until the summer of 1830, several months after the organization of the Church.

Looks like a lot of it is taking out quotes from non scriptural books. Personally I think that’s a good thing.
As teachers we are always counseled to keep the doctrine pure. It is much easier to do that when we don’t use quotes that do not come from our doctrinal standards, the standard works.

I think that removing unnecessary conjecture is a good thing.
Leave the speculating to the High Priests Quorum discussions
instead of validating it in print.

Where does that leave the Prophets, Seers, and Revelators of our time? Or are those just meaningless honorifics these days?
Mormonism ceased being a compelling topic for me when I finally came to terms with its transformation from a personality cult into a combination of a real estate company, a SuperPac, and Westboro Baptist Church. - Kishkumen

Hi BC,
Just to put your comment here in perspective (from my POV): My understanding is that mrm.org didn't get a lot wrong.
Via a similarly detailed analysis of the evidence I have handily refuted your suggestion.

I will only believe this is relevant when the Paul Dunn estate says it is so.
Before you criticize someone, walk a mile in their shoes. That way when you do criticize them you'll be a mile away and you'll have their shoes.

Dwight, thanks for the up-date. A good example of making comfortable pews without being contrite, honourable and honest. Great PR!
Liz, you said:
I agree with SoloMariner, LDSism will have to do more Sackcloth & Ashes than this little puff & patch. Does this text-change revise LDS Doctrine re Adam's Rib, the 6-day Creation Story, Jonah & Noah stories? Eden in the USA? Temple Fantasia, etc...etc...
IF LDSism would come-clean, admit the falsity of their Doctrines, then offer their member programs--no strings attached--24/7 to the communities that grant them tax advantages, everyone would benefit...
Sort of like the RLDS did. Now the Community of Christ, they are seen as Christians. Maybe the big mistake was going to Utah, eh?? But i guess a little change is better than no change?

Liz, you said:
As a member, this honestly makes me very happy. RM: Why so?
I have felt a great disconnect from many aspects of the Plan of Salvation. RM: I don't see this mincing-of-words changing the unbiased prejudices of the LDS Plan of Salvation? Have you personally read & studied "The PofS"? These changes word things in a way that makes it possible for all RM: Mormons ONLY! who are sincere in their desire to be righteous can obtain Celestial glory.
These changes have basically taken away the "Law of Moses" mentality that has existed in the Church for so long. I tried copy/pasting the quote, but it wouldn't recognize the portions that were crossed out as opposed to added. Please take a look at the link:

They should have gone to Texas.

Well, theologically, I guess they did

There is simply too much to untangle in the Mormon matrix for current leadership to handle. So they do what they do what they can, within the old mold, to save-face and pacify their brighter members. Who for whatever reason choose to stay-with-the-ship... Hopefully intelligence and denial will keep it afloat until a more honest integrating (inspired :-) leadership takes the helm. IMSCO... Who knows? Maybe that's happening, eh?

There is no reason that new revealed doctrine cannot be added to the Doctrine and Covenants; it has certainly been done before.
And leading the church is far from "meaningless honorifics." Much of Christ’s teachings were centered around clarifying scripture that was already written. Our Prophets, Seers and Revelators teach the same way.
