That's really too bad. They obviously missed the whole point of the show. My in-laws actually loved it, by the way.
Unfortunately, there are bigots everywhere....both in and out of the Mormon culture. Sorry to derail...."Rent" is just one of my favorite musicals, and it has such a powerful message about acceptance, love, and how you shouldn't let addiction ruin your life....follow your dreams.
I have the Blu Ray disc of the final "Rent" performance on Broadway. It is AMAZING! I cried at the end when the original cast came on stage and joined the performers.
We're having a get-together at my house with all of my voice students to watch it on my big screen TV.
