If I did it, in the final analysis the "ruse" would have been a great success. I found myself on the receiving end of moral denouncements that rival those once issued toward Rollo Thomasi. And all for essentially nothing.
Had I done it, Yong Xi's observation would have been key,
OK. So he can't con you twice. I think you have to give Gad his due on this one Daniel. Gad, Scratch and others know how to push your buttons. This time, Gad picked your pocket. Really, it is not that hard to set you up. You get played all the time. A mere suggestion of any inadequacy on your part is all that is required to get the ball rolling.
To which LoaP and DCP went on to challenge by saying I never fooled them for a second! Which of course, put Yong Xi not one, but two steps ahead of them. Ah, sometimes life is just too easy.
The only regret I'd have, if I did it, is the unfortunate dynamics that forced Liz and I to lock horns. Of course, those dynamics were fueled by DCP and LoaP who used her situation to try and force my hand. It was an impossible situation, a zero-sum situation, where to be overly blunt, she had to make me look cruel in order to avoid looking stupid, and I had to make her look stupid to avoid looking cruel, even if niether of us were explicitly trying to play it out like that, the situation guranteed this outcome. I hadn't anticipated that, nor the apologists exploiting it, and it wouldn't have been what I wanted. But in this life, sh** happens and for my part, I am not angry with her at all.
If I did it, I can only hope that rcrocket will downgrade my trustworthiness to 1. And if I did it, one can be assured there have been ruses in the past and more ruses ahead in the future. I will celebrate my victory tonight over the apologists, with a glass of 100 year old Scotch and the accompaniment of the staff at Cassius University. A grand time it will be for everyone!
But of course, this is all hypothetical, because I cannot tell a lie: I didn't do it. I really did present a technical philosophical paper on the deep structure of apologetic failure at the SMPT where the forms of the argument were laid figuratively within the superficial treatise that was well received, there only being one or two in the audience who decrypted the real message. This paper had been accepted by the SMPT long before the SMPT had even accepted proposals from anyone else, especially DCP, and I had determined my time of presentation long in advance. Next year, not only will I be even more scathing, but I have already made a couple of calls and set the entire theme for next year's conference such that my paper will be the centerpiece of the event. I have even secured the outcomes of whether or not DCP and LoaP will have their papers accepted this time, though I will not divulge what those outcomes will be.
And the Mopologists lived angrily ever after.
