Jersey Girl

Post by _JAK »

Jersey Girl,

(That's not a good subject title, but might get your attention.)

You may be aware that two Southern Baptist churches in Louisville, KY have joined as a result of the economic down-turn. They are located about 7 miles apart. One is all white, the other is all black. Their common problem is money. They lack enough to keep TWO churches operating. As you may well know there is a significant difference in tone and emphasis between a black Southern Baptist church and a white Southern Baptist church.

It might be a story you would have interest in following. …maybe not

Hi JAK!

I've always suspected that I would feel more at home in a black congregation. Maybe the black congregation members can show the white members what a spirit filled church really is!

p.s. Whaddya mean it's not a good subject title?

Ah HA, Jersey Girl,

Read carefully. I said not a good subject title. I did not say not a good subject. “Title” is the noun. :-)

And the CBS News report showed brief musical portions of EACH church. There was a significant difference as you might well expect.

Would Jesus's church be split into black and white ones?

The Bondgirl is actually a former member of one of these churches.

The white church got into money trouble and lost members with massive construction projects which left the church in debt. The debt meant that several loyal employees were fired, meaning that much of the congregation scattered to the wind, probably both due to the financial burden the church put itself in and the resulting lost jobs caused by fiscal incompetence on the Pastor's part (a plan was in place for gradual reconstruction projects over almost twenty years, but a new pastor moved in and he, wanting to be popular, the projects were more rapidly completed).

Isn't that what I stated? I'm totally lost now. But we knew that!

The meaning, dear girl, is that “title” did not equal “subject.” Hence, Jersey Girl is a fine subject, an excellent subject, a phenomenal subject. That is the reason I did not say Jersey Girl Is not a Good Subject.. Instead, I said what I said. It's a grammar thing.

I think “Jersey Girl” qualifies on this board as an “Off Topic” topic. It’s a strange board with goblins at work from time to time.

I went to a pentacostal church on Sunday which was mainly a black persons church, the pastor dude was a bit creepy though. He was white. They pretty much sung really kinda happy clappy church. I figured I could do that any day of the week so decided it's not my cuppa tea.
Just punched myself on the face...
