underage children and social networking site

Post by _msnobody »

A classmate of my children created a social networking site through ning.com. This social network mentions the name of their school as part of the link to the site. Both my children are under the allowable age in the terms and conditions of use according to ning.com. On this site they used their in real life names, and one of my children posted a picture of herself and her sibling. All without their parent's permission. We will chalk this up to a learning and teaching experience. One of my chlidren asked the site owner/creator to delete her account, but instead this classmate/owner/creator "banned" the account. I want all posts, photos and all information removed that was posted to the site. I am asking advice on the best way to be assured that all of this has been removed and deleted. I have sent ning.com an email asking about this. I feel I cannot trust this adolescent site owner to accurately complete my request mainly due to her inexperience.

Make a call to the kids parents, nobody, and tell them their child needs assistance to delete the material.

I found the right link to request ning.com remove it.

That whole set up seems weird to me. The idea of social networking for minors is like opening my can of worms!
