I am saddened, but not surprised. I wonder how much of a role this board played into it. This place invites criticizing and mocking the apostles and prophets. It also mocks the law of chastity.

Damn, I forgot about you.

I should add you to my list of soon-to-defect-members.

Seriously.

Give the guy some credit. Critics here are saying nothing new, and nothing that any sensible, rational person would say if they thought about the church objectively without special pleading.

Actually, the apostles and prophets invite criticizing and mocking themselves. They're practically begging for it.

But yeah, this place is great.

What law? The one Joe made up but never bothered to follow himself? You mean that one?

First you need to get me to criticize the brethren. I find it much more enjoyable to criticize apostate ideas.

I agreed with you up to this point, and then you lost me.

What I was getting at is that the atmosphere on this board is poisonous to a testimony. If someone hears something negative now and then about the church or the leaders, it's not going to be the end of his testimony, but day after day can really drive away the spirit especially if you allow yourself to add your voice to the criticism.

Am I going to crawl under, over, or around the Book of Mormon? Ray, what say ye?

Hey, I can feel the love dripping off of elder Holland who sits on top of the Book of Mormon and enjoys his position of power. I'll bet he enjoys all that money in his personal security accounts and the free room and board too from the Stake Presidents he spunges off of.

Holland's talk was pretty right on the money when it comes to the Book of Mormon. In terms of his money, I don't think that he is skimming from church accounts. Listening to Holland, I found him to be sincere in his last talk at general conference. No one to my knowledge has explained or proven the Book of Mormon to be false. And the early history of the LDS church, with all the critic theories, doesn't seem to add up to a fraud.

And I am sure that if you met Holland in the street and told him your story you might find him to have a tear in his eye.

Well, this board does do some mocking but not that much. But yea, it can be a bad influence on some Mormons. The number of Mormons on this board has dwindled and that could become a problem for balanced discussions.

You have no ground to stand on. Aren't you the completely inactive non tithe paying defender of LDS Inc?

In a way, you are similar to how Ray A used to be... Hmmmm, perhaps I should add you to my future defectors list...

Explain to me again, why you defend something that you do not support?

You have to do what is best for you. I know that going through the divorce, and learning about certain things regarding the Church has been difficult for you.

You and I have had many private talks.

You know that...above all else....you are my friend.

I love you lots and want what is best for you.

If this is going to make you happy, and feel at peace, then I support you.

As always, I am here for you whenever you need to talk.

Thanks, Liz. You're always my friend and if I ever say or do anything to offend you please just forgive me. Mormonism will always be a part of me, being BIC and LDS family history since 1831. I will take all the good things that I've learned and processed from Mormonism into the next phase of my life. It was a good training ground and I learned a lot. I'm grateful for the experience, but, I want to move on to reality and learn to appreciate things about life from new perspectives. The church would just hold me back and prevent growth. Besides, I lost the testimony and gained reality.

I think the church does a lot of good for so many people but then it also does harm too. I don't want to be unfairly negetive about the church. Credit is due where it is due.
