Okay, what are people's opinions of this movie series? Seems like just about every guy I know absolutely detests the films while the majority of women are totally in love with it (or if they are not they too detest it). Heard the Vatican condemned the films. Saw the first one out of curiosity and it seemed like a real psychosexual melodrama (Sigmund Freud wouild have a field day I think analyzing the meaning of female sexality -- especially how the main character's virginity is turned into a fetish. Don't even want to mention the Freudian context of blood in this film).

Haven't seen the new one. Hated the first one, hate what I've heard and read of the book series. When my daughter is a teenager, I dearly hope she has better taste than to idolize an idiotic romance series wherein some empty-headed female protagonist falls for a guy who stalks her, throws her around, won't let her make decisions for herself, and leads her into marriage, pregnancy, and (technically) death, all by age 18.

The first movie is better than the first book, if only because it gets the creep factor a little. It's still not a good movie by any stretch.

I read the first book on the hopes of getting a it's so bad it's good experience. Instead, I got the intense feeling that I was reading a poorly written, awkward sexual fantasy journal that wasn't meant for my eyes. Bella Swan? It was uncomfortable.

I sat in a theater full of little teenage girls and their mothers. They were the missing link to all the parts cut out to make the movie cohesive. I just listened to them during the the holes in the plot. Got it. Hated it.

Shure is special that a Mormon girl wrote the series, though.

I saw the first movie and kind of liked it. I also heard from a girl in our ward that the books have some pretty cool cars (Porsche 911 turbo, BMW M3, etc...) so I tried reading the books. I didn't make it very far though. I found the books very boring and way more emotional than the movie. My wife and I will probably still go watch the second movie though.

If you're looking for a good movie to see in the theaters right now, I'd definately recommend Blind Side. Probably one of the best movies I've ever seen.

Ann Rice is a pretty bad writer, especially now. But she's bad in the sense of holding her up to the expectations of being a successful professional. Twilight was like an amatuer work written for personal thrills. It's on par with LOST fan fic. I'm not exaggerating there.

Anyway, when I think of Ann Rice, what first pops into mind was this hilarious fiasco:

If you're looking for a good movie to see in the theaters right now, I'd definitely recommend Blind Side. Probably one of the best movies I've ever seen.

Wish I would have read this before I wasted our money on
New Moon this weekend. I had heard from all the Facebook comments that this one was better than the disappointing Twilight. It wasn't.

O.M.G. I couldn't believe the women in our audience gasping and giggling over a guy taking his shirt off and anticipating each moment before it happened. I felt so bad for all the men who were dragged to that thing. The only part I enjoyed was seeing Dakota Fanning all grown up. Wow, that happened overnight.

I haven't read the books (started to read Twilight once and was very surprised grown women were so crazy about this writer) and don't plan to. The books and movie seemed to be geared for teenage girls, but the content is not healthy for that age in my opinion. If her intent was to use Edward's ability to control his blood sucking temptation with Bella as an allegory for waiting to have sex before marriage, it fails. The content is highly sensual, and I wouldn't be surprised if it causes teenagers to have pre marital sex by focusing so much on this obsessive love for the bad boy. Not a book series I want my girls reading.
I did appreciate her vegetarian symbolism with the Cullin family overcoming their natural desire and refusing to kill people, and showing Bella eat a veggie burger in the first movie Twilight. :D

I love the idea of a great vampire movie series, but this one was a disappointment. With all the hype over these books, you would think someone could have done an awesome movie.
The special effects were great, and some good action with suspense, but I felt like we were watching a film geared for 7th graders.

There are gasps and shock when I tell other LDS women I haven't read the Twilight series.
