Poor reasoning.

I agree.

At least Tommy boy Monson is a false prophet with some style and something to show for it. But Nightlion? Good God, not even imagined jackels and dragons would follow him. Nothing follows him. He is a false prophet with no following whatsoever other than his own mind.

I am late comer to this thread...

but I think that Dr. Shades caught my first thought from the OP.....it's all about Will's support. Is it the money, has be been buying his way "in"? After all you can buy anything in this Mormon world with money. Or is it that someone within the FAIR MAD boards influenced by the CoB found some integrity and honesty and finally realized that Will was just a foul mouthed imbecile and they couldn't stand anymore? Or maybe they realized that his Book of Abraham epiphany is all smoke and mirrors with a lot of BS?

I think it is a combination of the three.
I think it would be morally right to lie about your religion to edit the article favorably.

The simple truth is that we really don't know what is going on. I think there are those people in FAIR, for whom I have quite a good deal of respect, who viewed Will's actions to be unethical. I have no idea what connection there is between this and his departure. Probably none. I am satisfied that the reason for his departure is the one that he himself stated: he is concentrating his efforts elsewhere. I think this shows a great deal of wisdom on his part, more wisdom than I have been able to muster thus far. I spend far too much time recreating on boards, and it has brought me a fair amount of unnecessary trouble.

I think I may take a break from the boards. I am seriously angry at the moment. I took months of abuse from Wheat, and everyone here knows how Will Schryver has treated me for the last 4 years. But over the weekend, I got a nasty email calling me paranoid, psychotic, and "very, very disturbed."

I've done and said a lot of things, much of which I'm not proud of, but my response to the Wheat episode, as far as I can see, was probably less paranoid than it should have been. Yeah, people threaten me with shotguns, send nasty emails to my wife (to the point that she was afraid to answer the door), and attack me at every opportunity, and I'm the crazy one.

I think I need to bow out for a bit to cool off.

I had no idea that the stalking had become that personal. I don't blame you for being angry.

Runtu,

You are a good guy and in no way deserve the despicable treatment that has been dished out to you. My sense is that it is your decency that has drawn the cockroaches out of the woodwork to attack you, because your example flies in the face of the demonizing image slapped on "apostates." Schryver, jwhitlock, and their ilk want to make sure that appear to be a bogeyman, since this is believed to be a legitimate defense against all you represent (the decent ex-Mormon).

I am sorry, man. I have nothing for contempt for this behavior and count it against anyone who engages in it. Ironically, this is one of the reasons Scratch exists as Scratch. For every person who has been dogged by an overzealous nutjob in the Church, he pushes back in the other direction. I am not saying I agree with that strategy, but I can see where it is coming from.
