My son is 8 and I still have to tie his shoes for him! I guess he'd rather trip on his laces then put the effort into learning to tie them!

I think too much emphasis is put on teaching kids to read before school starts. . . otherwise you have dumb kids, right!? Well, of course not, and the thing is that it all evens itself out in the end. My son who just barely got the hang of reading now in his second grade, is reading just as well as anybody else in his class, and I'm sure some of them were able to read in kindergarten. And wasn't there a motivational story for us stupids of the world out here, about Albert Einstein being a drop-out?
