Actually, I'm not quite convinced that David's not the lead singer from Right Said Fred. Too sexy for another hit, but not too sexy for Mopologetics?
LOL! Ohh, I've got plenty of hair! Just not on the top of my head. Living in Boston I get misidentified all the time for Kevin Youkilis of the Red Sox.

Your current avatar gave me a song "flash back." One of the greatest Eagles songs ever: Those Shoes. I couldn't find an Eagles version on YouTube, but I did find a cute chick drummer playing along with a recording of it. She's a pretty darn good drummer ... for a girl. ;-)
Tell us what you're gonna do tonight, momma There must be some place you can go In the middle of the tall drinks and the drama There must be someone you know God knows you're looking good enough But you're so smooth, and the world's so rough You might have something to lose Oh no, pretty momma What you gonna do in those shoes?
Got those pretty little straps around your ankles Got those shiny little chains around your heart You got to have your independence, But you don't know just where to start Desperation in the singles bars All the jerkoffs in their fancy cars You can't believe your reviews Oh no, you can't do that Once you've started wearing those shoes
They're waving at you, leaning on you, Tell you everything you wanna hear They give you tablets of love They're waiting for you, got to score you Handy with a shovel and so sincere Ooh, they got the kid gloves
You just want someone to talk to They just wanna get their hands on you You get whatever you choose Oh no, you can't do that Once you've started wearing those shoes Oh no, you can't do that Once you've started wearing those shoes

A good band to be sure! Yet as Ian Matthews' version of "Seven Bridges Road" recorded in 1973 illustrates, the Eagles were but pale imitators of the genius that preceded their work. Personally, when it comes to that genre or rock, I'd take the Flying Burrito Brothers over the Eagles any day.

I sometimes wonder if I'm the only person who finds the Eagles rather boring and often annoying. I don't know what it is, but their stuff just seems derivative and rather in keeping with the numb corporate music of the late 70s.
PS. John, you're not the only one. I don't care for the Eagles, either. Listening to them is Wasted Time. I might do it as a Last Resort. I Can't Tell You Why I don't like them, but I can tell you I Don't Wanna Hear Any More. Meh. It's probably because I'm just a Witchy Woman.
/derail. No more shoe or Eagles commentary from me, Kevin.

I think this is a reflection of something you once read in Rolling Stone way back "in the day," and came to believe that it was the kind of attitude "edgy" and "sophisticated" people were supposed to have towards the Eagles.
Of course, I fully allow for honest differences of opinion when it comes to music. Nevertheless, I suspect there is a very damn good reason the music of the Eagles will continue to be heard on radio stations (or their futuristic analog) well into the next millennium and beyond, long after bands like The Heavy have been forgotten forever (along with the music of a lot of other bands and artists I have really loved through the years). That's just the nature of the beast.

Maybe it's just personal preference (I don't read Rolling Stone). I admit it; when I think of good late 70s music I think of "London Calling" and "Rust Never Sleeps," not "The Long Run." I don't know. I just never liked the Eagles.
