Our youngest Greyhound, Pepci - 4 Years 5 Months old - was diagnoised with Osteosarcoma {bone cancer} 23rd April 2010. It began as a tiny lump on her chin which more than trebled in size in the space of 4 days, and within a week had invaded her mouth. It is very agressive. On Monday 10th May she had an operation which removed a large section of her bottom jaw. She is now home and recovering from the op, before having chemo. Fortunately it has not spread anywhere else. Between diagnosies and the operation she had x-rays done and also an MRI scan to ensure it hadn't spread. If had spread, then nothing could have been done for her. She is having to be hand fed soft food at the moment until the surgery has healed and has to wear one of those horrible "elizabethan" collars to prevent her scratching and thus remover stitches from her new lip area. She absolutely hates it.
The Vet said that this type of cancer is not very common on the chin as it usually found on a dogs leg.

As a fellow dog lover (see the avatar :-), I can well identify with wanting the best outcome for your pet. What does the doc give as a prognosis?

The tested where they removed jaw and the cancer had not spread. So it is very good. She still has to have chemo. Provided she remains free of cancer she could lead a full doggy life.
