Sacrifice requires giving up all that the Lord has blessed us with. Technically, it was never ours to give. Consecration, however, requires that we give up the one thing that is ours: our will. It requires that our purpose and intent are sacred in nature. This is, in my view, one of the major faults of all secular economic systems, whether it be capitalism, socialism, etc. Without participants unified by a sacred purpose through covenant, the system will fall short.
And the majority of Mormons vote Republican? Mr. Droopy must be very conflicted. Very conflicted.

In the face of madness, rationality has no power - Xiao Wang, US historiographer, 2287 AD.
Every record...falsified, every book rewritten...every statue...has been renamed or torn down, every date...altered...the process is continuing...minute by minute. History has stopped. Nothing exists except an endless present in which the Ideology is always right.
I don't know.... I think your grandson is a butthead and I would be worried. It's simply story telling in which "artistic license" is common. He shouldn't have taken things so literally and negatively. It's not meant to be a "history book".
Plus, who says' that simple event with Lucy was "false"? I'm seem to recall Lucy stating such, or at least thinking it. Even if not, it would be a "reasonable" inference, thus not something "terrible" at all as he makes it.
hmmmm.... Maybe your Grandson is being influenced by anti-mormonism??? His reaction is the "common reaction" of those who are beginning to doubt the faith and having been exposed to anti-mormon so called "true history". They begin to get irritated by the Churches "simplistic" and artistic telling of our history.

Anytime I feel like I have said or done something truly boneheaded, I'll just pull this one out to give me a little perspective. It was a good thing I was sitting down when I read this.
“I was hooked from the start,” Snoop Dogg said. “We talked about the purpose of life, played Mousetrap, and ate brownies. The kids thought it was off the hook, for real.”
This was quite refreshing honesty from selek (the MAD selek):
In the Gender and Happiness OP from Ivan:
Ivan writes:
...gender is a complex issue of the mind. and who is (sic)say god did not send a few male spirits into female bodies and that is that spirits test in life...
Selek's response:
I don't believe there's any precedence in Mormon theology to support such a radical, unorthodox belief.
Of course, given that where there are three Mormons you'll have five opinions, there's certainly room for unconstrained speculation.
I think Blake Ostler could go along with Ivan, no?
I detest my loose style and my libertine sentiments. I thank God, who has removed from my eyes the veil... Adrian Beverland
Here is a good one from the ascendant hate-monger and racist, USU78. Regarding Michael Quinn's decision not to attend the trial that exommunicated him from the Church, USU78 reasoned:
USU78 wrote:His [Michael Quinn's] open, notorious and unrepentent practice of homosexuality since his excommunication certainly speaks more loudly and with more clarity than his claim of "censorship."
So gay people are by nature untrustworthy.
Or does he just mean to express "good riddance"?
The narrator has startedthreethreads trying to get to the bottom of it. USU78 stonewalls and ducks the scene. Two threads have been closed. The narrator will likely be banned to protect USU78, who is very likely a moderator anyway.
Gotta love the MAD board!
