Members Only in Haiti

Post by _badseed »

I understand this policy in the hyper-litigious United States— but why in Haiti? And at a time of such great need.

You topic subject does not grab the attention that this needs.

Change it to

"Non Mormons refused shelter at LDS chapel in Haitian flooding"

As to the situation, they could use it to bolster their baptismal numbers.. tell them they need to pass through the baptismal font to be "cleaned off" first and secretly count that as a baptism.

I suppose they could instantly increase baptisms in the area with such a policy.

"All guests must bathe before entering."

I'm sickened by one of the comments!

The commenter believes that since the church building are the House of God that it is direspectful to let people "squat" in them. Oh.my.word.

Yes, because God would much rather the people get killed in the storm than sleep on his floor. Makes perfect sense.

Buildings are more sacred than human life. Got it.

Ha. Nice. I think you may have a future as a Stake President or something.

Perhaps the local representatives forgot that they also spend a lot of effort trying to proselytize non-members. It is almost impossible to buy this kind of negative publicity otherwise in the Caribbean.

Mormon buildings are only for those that already have their own homes.

Maybe it would be different if chapels were built by fast offerings. Then they'd be more inclined to use them more charitably.
