Sometimes straight talk is required. Hey, I didn't throw you out on the streets in the lead up to Christmas and then question whether you were sincerely in need of help. Some might consider living in a motel reason enough for compassion.

A motel owner throwing out a relative, with whom he had made an agreement to let live in a three-bedroom unit on a more permanent basis, therefore creating a landlord/tenant relationship, rather than an innkeeper/guest one, and changing the locks, does not equate to a motel closing it's doors.

Would you care to try again?

A major premise of your "tough crap" argument is that people living in a motel have no rights in particular. This premise is mistaken. Under Utah law, long-term residents of a motel are treated as tenants, not guests.

This mistaken premise is related to your insistence that a motel is not housing, despite the dictionary definition of the word "housing."

It is threads like these that illustrate quite vividly why Darth J truly is Poster of the Year.

I could be mistaken, but a "defining moment" might be right around the corner here.

Look, the church could have compassionately gave notice and either:

1. Set the family in question up in another motel for one month's rental.
2. Given the family until after Jan 1st to vacate.

But it didn't. It booted them (and others) the hell out right before Christmas.

Considering the timing, it casts a whole new light on the words, "No room at the Inn".

Yeah, doesn't he own a penthouse condo overlooking his billion-dollar shopping mall?

I'd suggest more groveling.

To be fair, if I hadn't been witness to his long-standing behavior to Jersey in order to win her nomination, I'd be scratching my head too over why Dr. CAM hasn't displaced him already from just the posts in this thread.

Apparently Cam misread the thread title. Take from that what you will.

I would have gone to the motel down the street...

I do have compassion for Brandi's plight. That doesn't change the point, though.

Where did I even come close to stating this?!

Under Utah law, long-term residents of a motel are treated as tenants, not guests.

Which law?

Or they could have driven them down the street to the next motel and handed the employee behind the counter the money Brandi was going to give the Ogden Lodge for her.
