Shades doesn't finance this site, so even if it did generate money (which it doesn't or there wouldn't have been the recent discussions about how to raise money to keep it up) it wouldn't be going to his pocket.

LoaP clarifies what the spirit feels like:
Also, for me, the Holy Ghost isn't always a nice happy feeling or peaceful feeling, etc. Sometimes it's an uncomfortable feeling, or a rebuking feeling, or a regretful feeling, or the absence of a particular feeling.

1. Happy feeling.
2. Peaceful feeling.
3. Uncomfortable feeling.
4. Rebuking feeling.
5. Regretful feeling.
6. No feeling.

Glad we got that cleared up.

In other words, the Holy Ghost is whatever the religious person wishes it to be.

I'm feeling a little bit of the HG right now, actually.

Seriously though, what a relief the Elders are carefully instructing investigators in what the HG really feels like, that it is not a mere emotion or something as vague as what LoaP is suggesting. Think of the harsh accusations of dishonesty some antis would allege.

Stemelbow wrote, in answer to the question Why do I still feel the Spirit after resigning 3 years ago from the Church?

Who knows? Maybe God's attempting to get you to come back somehow. Maybe you simply did not know/understand the difference between the Spirit and your own emotional responses? Maybe the church is still true but God has a different plan for you in bringing about His great designs? Maybe you're lying? Maybe you think you still feel the same but you haven't realized that which you feel is quite different then what you once felt and termed as the Spirit?

The last sentence is the real winner. What a terrible situation to be in. How would you know if you were in it? or not?

Nathair wrote, on how you know when it is the Spirit, in the same thread as directly above:

At least one way, for me, is when I open my mouth and something I didn't know comes out, but I am filled with joy and I know it is true

I've only read part of the the first page, so.....

Mordecai clears it all up:

The spirit is measured by the results it gets, i.e. love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness and temperance. If you're developing those qualities via inspiration, i.e. information being fed directly to your soul from a Higher source, that's the Holy Ghost. If that hasn't been your experience, regardless of whether you have a "burning in the bosom" or peace or some other feeling associated with the spirit, it's not really from God.

'nuff said. Asked and answered. Next anti-Mormon question, please...

They should rename this thread 'The Definitive Milk Outta Yer Nose Page'.

Exactly. I didn't notice you had already found the LOAP zinger from this thread and notified everyone. But, it's got enough zingers for everyone to choose one or two. ;), so I hope I wasn't intruding.
