I think what is said in anger or frustration should be freely forgiven. We know Pa Pa. We know he is a good person.

Even so, anger was misplaced when I tried to give him a better way to look at things. I'll say more eventually because I dislike the insult he leveled at many good people.

Blind faith, that is all you have.

No wonder so many ex-mos become atheists. In defending the Book of Mormon you often have to point out some similar weaknesses in the Bible. Eventually it becomes clear that they're both b***s***.

Ah yes, the old "Your magical book is just as weak as my magical book" defense. When will Mormons figure out that this actually hurts their position?

If a credible neutral third party concluded that the evidence proves the Book of Mormon is fiction, well then they wouldn't be neutral anymore would they?

It is far easier to be skeptical and not believe in something, than it is to believe in it.

I bet DCP wife agrees with this.

Rather than try and memorialize an entire thread of typical MADB pseudo-religious discussion on a conservative political topic, I feel that Dr. Stuess's comment in this thread serves both as the appropriately humorous foil to the whole thread while being more fun to read -

Dr. Stuess wrote:

Not only did we (i.e. "leftys") hope that more people would have their property, and livelihoods adversely impacted; we also hoped that the oil would turn some people gay.
