Mr. J is a public figure to the extent he obtained his job through nepotism, being Mr. D's son. To that extent, Mr. D's notoriety stains Mr. J. Mr. J is therefore a public figure and fair game for criticism on topics that show the effects of his possibly nepotistic hiring. His shortcomings as a reporter if anything make all the more obvious that his hiring was due to nepotism, not his own merits. In addition, a reporter throws himself and his reputation into the public arena with every piece he authors that is published. Is Mr. J a public figure? Yes for how he obtained the job, and yes for the matters on which he writes.

Spider, in the Celestial forum Dr. Peterson points out that his son is not an employee of the Deseret News and that he did the review as a freebie. Also further speculation that he serves as a SCMC representative at BYU is pointless, in that all BYU students are deputized under the honor code to report any perceived or potential deviations to designated the authorities.

I see no reason to drag Jeffrey Peterson into our discussions.

What a tool. The author of this thread probably skis in jeans. That's my guess.

I sincerely hope you will find my new avatar less distracting and less worthy of comment.
