60 minutes segment called "Descent Into Madness"
This aired January 16th and told about the Tuscon killer and his descent into madness. It got me thinking about some of the people who interact on this message board. Are some people here so extreme in their beliefs that it may be harmful for themselves and others?

You hit the nail on the head my friend, extremism. That is the key word in any belief system whether LDS, anti-Mormon, Republican, Democrat, Capitalist, Communist, etc... It is not a person's beliefs that harms themselves nor others it is when their belief becomes so strong and absolute that they feel all others are the enemy.
I did not like Gerald and Sandra Tanner's rhetoric for it was not based on the whole truth but I did appreciate the fact that they did not consider the LDS Church the enemy just did not consider it infallible. Then again I am LDS and an apologists and do not consider it infallible. In fact our leaders screw up all the time and make bad judgement errors. They don't always use the Spirit and that is why each and every one of the members needs to think for him/herself. There must never be blind faith and obedience ever again in the church, otherwise, we will eventually be watching the Mountain Meadows Massacre II some day.

Perhaps viewing anti-Mormons, Democrats, and Communists as enemy's rather than different ideologies show just how extreme a person's beliefs can be?
