Break out the bubbly…

Dr Shades…this is what your “Free Speech” and “No Moderation” leads too, (so you can attack the LDS Faith) officers being called pigs and little boys like Buff and Eric to play on your board while Mommy is not looking.

Pa Pa,

I know we've traded blows in the past, but I do want you to understand, regardless, I have some understanding of the loss police officers, firefighters, and other public servants feel when one of their own are taken. My condolences to you.

I am puzzled at your post, because, while I know that some here have called cops 'pigs', it would seem to me that the only person who has anything to lose by carrying on this fight is you. Had you not posted this today, that discussion would have faded into obscurity. However, by posting, you just come across as a... well, I don't know how to phrase it, but you sure don't come across as positive. You almost come off as worse than those whom you seek to criticize because you appear to be exploiting the deaths of these officers for.... for what? For fodder on a message board? Is that why they died? So you could rub their deaths in the faces of a couple of people you don't seem to care about?

Listen, Pa Pa, I don't know you other than the persona you present here. But I'd think that if you stepped back, took a breath, and examined your actions with respect to this thread, you'd probably have a few regrets, considering how you have used the deaths of your brothers in blue.

In 2009, 13,636 Americans were the victims of homicide.

In 2009, 48 law enforcement officers were feloniously killed in the line of duty

Cops: 48/683,396 = .007%

Citizens: 13,636/305,529,237 = 0.00446%

So it is more dangerous to be a cop than a regular person. Assuming my math is correct.

Hi Buffalo,

Thanks for the PM, by the way.

I think your stats might be a little misleading. I don't know what you do for a living, but I'm pretty sure that no Medical Illustrators (my field) were killed in the line of duty.

I think that may be the measure to use.
This, or any other post that I have made or will make in the future, is strictly my own opinion and consequently of little or no value.

Well, they only take into account homicide, for one. I don't have the time an inclination to take into account every profession. I doubt that police officer is the most dangerous - considering we haven't taken into account work-related accidental deaths. But it's certainly more dangerous than, on average, not being a police officer.

Just did a Google and found this:
Badge-wielding types took a serious hit. Of all occupations, protective-service occupations suffered the greatest relative increase in workplace fatalities in 2007, jumping 20% to 314. Nearly one-half of those were police officers; indeed, enough men in blue perished in the line of fire to earn a spot on the list of America's 10 most dangerous jobs.

I'll stick with drawing. :)

Do you think I don't know this?

So your wants coincide perfectly with my wants. You're happy after all.

Pa Pa wrote:Shades, is the one who allows this…and endorses it and encourages it…

No, it was the Founding Fathers who allowed this and endorsed and encouraged it when they ratified the First Amendment to the Constitution. Do you disagree with the Founding Fathers when they guaranteed freedom of speech? Were they wrong? If they weren't wrong, then how can I possibly be wrong, since I am merely following in their footsteps?

Pa Pa wrote:Why don't you show everyone what you sent me in private?

Because it's against the rules. Read Universal Rule #3.

I love to fly fish! Any stats on angler deaths? I've hooked myself a couple of times, but both were a long way from my heart.

I apologize if your parents were married, hopefully to each other.

I am not the one calling Police Officers, "Pigs"...it is the Ma Ma's boys I mentioned.

It was not great news to me I served as an officer. But you know what you can do to yourself.

Pa Pa horan, draw me a picture my mind doesn't work like yours.
