This kid refused to wrestle a girl and used his religious beliefs to justify this stupidity.
He does not deserve a chance at a title if he is this sexist.

The sexism was merely an extension of his religious convictions. He knows that touching girls leads to Satanic cooties.

He believes he shouldn't fight girls and then didn't.
I'm glad to know that Joseph is willing to attack women in all circumstances he is willing to attack men. This shows him to be a model of non-sexism.

Personally I think co-ed high school wrestling is a recipe for sexual assault.

While I do not believe his decision was sexist nor immoral, I do believe it is wrong/flawed thinking.
Men play with and against women in all kinds of sports, simply because it is wrestling and a little more violent doesn't mean one should remove himself. If the woman qualified, then there is every legitimate reason to wrestle her.
Women fight in war, combat, martial arts, etc., thus there is no "reasonable" reason to not wrestle a woman. While I can appreciate his views regarding woman, that it would be inappropriate, I believe a higher law applies here as I've described.
However, for fairness sake, I would say it's not appropriate to have women wrestling with men as a sport. In one on one combat, men will always win much much more often, thus, while I'm not necessarily against a woman doing this, I think it's not necessarily good for the situation. But, I guess that would be on the woman to face such consequences and challenges..... So, I don't think it/they needs to be restricted, unless it starts being a problem. Women fight men in Martial Arts sometimes, though not generally in competition. But, hey, all the power to ya.
