Are you saying that no one praised Dreams From My Father before Cashill did? Joe Klein stated that the book "may be the best-written memoir ever produced by an American politician." The question is whether the language, circumstances, etc. point more the Ayers than to Obama. I've got a trip in the near future and plan to read Cashill's book. I'll then have a better grasp of his detailed argument.Eric wrote:Has anyone ever accused Bill Ayers of penning a "literary masterpiece" before Cashill decided to use that as his biggest piece of evidence in favor for this theory?
That's seriously what he harps on for most of that presentation. Obama will never be a brilliant writer, so because "Dreams From My Father" is - according to Cashill - a "literary masterpiece," Obama couldn't write it.
That's almost like saying that Joseph Smith Jr., because he was an uneducated hick, was incapable of writing the Book of Mormon on his own. Wait, that's exactly like what Cashill is saying.
1. Who says "Dreams From My Father" is a "literary masterpiece?"
2. Who says Bill Ayers is capable of penning a "literary masterpiece?"
Cashill does. His assertions depend on his own assertions. No evidence.

That does have a rather Fox News sound to it. Never mind.
Excellent diplomacy. For a minute there, I thought you were going to accuse Shades of being an exclusive time linearist. That of course is much worse than being a presentist and on par with engaging in gender racism as discussed at the Terrestrial forum. With such diplomacy, you have avoided a one week suspension for violating rule 26b.

I think some people here are unclear about what the controversy is over. There is nothing illegal about using a ghostwriter. What is unethical is using a ghostwriter and claiming that you wrote the book (implicitly by yourself).

Ya.... But, even that's pretty common, so we aren't so concerned with that. The actual controversy is that it was written by Bill Ayers, and Obama claimed he had little to no contact with Bill Ayers. Also a problem is that several so-called facts of his history are actual falsehoods.
It's simply another of many nails in his character, showing who he really is, and that is a Manchurian Candidate, a huge liar who's purposes are not honorable toward this country.

Has anyone read this book?
Cashill is a liar and a fraud. Check out the bad photoshop he did here:

Hi Obiwan,
I was so glad to see you had responded on this thread. I'm still waiting for you to provide some evidence in support of this theory though. It seems like you - like your hero Glenn Beck - are willing to subscribe to any crackpot theory that vilifies President Obama.
Still waiting for the slightest bit of evidence to support this allegation. So far, neither Cashill, nor Richard, nor you have been able to elaborate on this. So what makes you think Ayers wrote this? Anyone?
Oh goodie. Another opportunity for you to point to some evidence. Let's have it...
You're ridiculous.

Did you even read his article???
Clearly not, because his article has nothing about a "forged photo" in it.
Looks like it's "made up" as all MediaMatters "facts" are about anyone anti-liberal.

It looks like Cashill made some hasty edits to his article. But he's on record making the spurious claims about his own bad photoshop.

Re: Did Obama write Dreams From My Father?
About 8 hours after Cashill's article appeared and his "real photo" was revealed to be a very poor photoshop, WND edited it out with no reference to a major correction. Attempting to disappear things down the memory hole isn't a new thing to WND here and no one should be shocked.
That this happened and Obiwan isn't even going to be phased should say something about the mentality he possesses.
