Re: Public Service Announcement
I suppose I will let this go for a day or two. As of now its apparent I'm the odd dude out and didn't realize it. What a dummy. I mean I saw all the hostilities thrown my way but i figured it was more manufactured in the hearts of the hostility throwers than anything intentional.

Re: Public Service Announcement
I think Stem should stay. I also don't have him on my foes list. That doesn't mean I read everything he posts, but I do at least see it, and can choose.
I think Stem is changing over time. I think he was a fieryer (I claim this word) anti-anti when he first showed up. I think he's been chastened enough times in Mortal Verbal Combat with some pretty smart people on this board, that he's probably dealing with some cog-dis about it right now. I mean, when you're on God's Side, you're supposed to win these debates, because you have The Truth on your side. When you get your ass handed to you then, something is wrong. I think his confidence in The Truth that he has based on his testimony of the church, and his experience of ending up on the wrong side of so many discussions here, is shaking him up a little.
There's a very good reason, Stem, why you tend to lose these debates with Darth J and others. The reason is not that an invisible bogeyman is whispering clever lies into Darth J's ears, ie: the "Satan fighting against The Truth" hypothesis. It's that Darth J is A) a very smart, articulate, and clever man, and B) more often than not has the facts on his side. That combination is hard to overcome with just a Testimony of the LDS Church and some flimsy beliefs derived from a Mormon-colored-glasses view of the world that just doesn't really jive with reality.
Stick around. If you continue as a staunch believer in Mormonism, these guys will probably force you to improve your game, and at the very least your verbal jousting (and thinking) skills will become more honed and refined over time. And who knows, you may actually come to realize that the critics are actually on the right side of this big argument after all.
Either way, you win.

Mormonism ceased being a compelling topic for me when I finally came to terms with its transformation from a personality cult into a combination of a real estate company, a SuperPac, and Westboro Baptist Church. - Kishkumen

I appreciate the condescending editorial. The attempt to explain myself to me, while ignorantly doing so, was the adorable thing I'd expect.
Anyway, we do have a "no" vote it appears. that's the important news. I should stay, according to Seth, instead of submitting to this power-play by Stak and co.

So youw ant me to set up a new poll thread? Your post is confusing me, SP. And I can't tell if you voted either way. Waiting for me to set it up?
It's corrected. No poll. Just let the individuals use their Foe function re stem, should they wish. Those that do not yet get the benefit of reading stem posts.

I could do that, but in large measure I wouldn't know who is voting me out, since they ignore me quietly. I think I'll start a poll just because I'm not really interested in staying in a place where I'm not welcome or contributing according to the others. This is obviously a power-play to see if all can join in ignoring me so others who have decided to ignore don't have to read my comments in their quoting of me. I'm trying to help those who wish me outta here. I'll find it a quite intriguing exercise.

How can I respect the Clash if I didn't' even realize that's who sung that song? Sorry I mixed it up and didn't even attribute it properly. That's a mess.
Anyway, I take it you say yes? You don't want trouble to double?
Nope, stay. You add to the flow of posts - I consider that to be a good thing.

I approve of this thread.

Re: Public Service Announcement
stemelbow is not on my foe list. I find him completely unobjectionable, though when I can discern his positions clearly I usually disagree with them completely. Even if I wanted him to leave, which I don't, I would naturally be prevented from saying so by board rules.

I did not have a faith crisis. I discovered that the Church was having a truth crisis.

That's the problem with this supernatural stuff, it doesn't really solve anything. It's a placeholder for ignorance.
