My one and only military buddy shared with me his 15 rules of life. No, he didn't lift them from a self-help book; these are rules that he learned on his own through trial-and-error. The advice is sage and I learned a lot, so I'm reposting them for you here because they're so good:
RULES ON LIFE
01. Life is ten percent what happens and ninety percent how you react.
02. Go 24 hours without saying an unkind or negative word.
03. Have positive emotional energy and mature boundary function.
04. Always be a beacon of positive behavior for others to follow.
05. Never assume malice unless you can prove it.
06. Keep your heart like a compass and your head on auto-pilot.
07. Focus on the important things.
08. If you can, stand up for those who can’t stand up for themselves.
09. Never use sarcasm or hostile humor.
10. Make a difference in others' lives and make them important.
11. Be quick to support, slow to judge, even slower to anger.
12. Remove toxic people from your life, but tell them why.
13. Always err on the side of fun and spontaneity. Smile more.
14. Never date someone with more problems than your own.
15. And never, ever, date someone whose father calls her princess.

"Finally, for your rather strange idea that miracles are somehow linked to the amount of gay sexual gratification that is taking place would require that primitive Christianity was launched by gay sex, would it not?"

I'm a little slow. But on 3, what is "mature boundry function"?

I'm a little slow too, but I think it has something to do with not missing the toilet.
15. And never, ever, date someone whose father calls her princess.
How about "sweetie"? Two of those are already married.

It would refer to not meddling in your married children's finances, for example.

Re: A friend's 15 Rules of Life
They sound like great virtues. But what good are great virtues without a reason to give you the will to adhere to them. Who really wants great virtues? When I ask myself what I really want, I have to be honest and admit that I want great results. The virtues are just a means to that, not an end in themselves.
Unfortunately most fathers call their daughters princess and even if they don't too many women still grow up with delusions of royalty. It's a cross we have to subsequently bear.

And when the confederates saw Jackson standing fearless as a stone wall the army of Northern Virginia took courage and drove the federal army off their land.
