Yes, well, you do as much as anyone to keep it alive by the very suspicious behavior you exhibit here.

Nomad wrote:by the way, I voted for “Other” because pretty much any other answer is more likely than the ones Scratch proposes. What makes you think WS has any “benefactor” at all? A wealthy FARMS donor? An apostle? Really?

Right. LOL.

Nomad wrote:Maybe he just made a good case and was allowed to pursue it. But wait, Metcalfe, Smith, and Graham have already proven that couldn’t be true, so the only explanation is that Schryver has crazy Jedi mind powers that he uses to hypnotize people and force them to submit to his will. That should have been an option in your poll.

In other words, in order to discredit any kind of discussion of the issue, you pretty much have to characterize every option as utterly ridiculous and propose the most ridiculous option of all in doing so--obviously so that every option is implicitly made to look equally stupid. Frankly, I don't think the idea that Royal Skousen has taken on the role of Will's mentor at all out of the range of the reasonably plausible.

LOL. Wow. Will himself wouldn't have put it any differently.

Kevin Graham is 100% right that a massive amount of butt-kissing had to have taken place.

One of the MAD players working against Will's apologetics informed me that Will spends a great amount of time at the offices of the Maxwell Institute.

Will has also bragged online about how close he has become with folks like Royal Skousen. He once related a date night they had together, as they were watching a Shakespearean play on TV one night, and started drawing parallels to anti-Mormonism or what not.

Will can't just pass his stuff to FARMS and expect a serious response like anyone else. He knows he hasn't a chance in hell of getting serious attention unless he lobbies heavily on his behalf. He first has to coax them socially. Or as in the immortal words of Vincent Gambini, "I finessed him and he showed me his files!"

It seems to me that the mere mention of his name illicits much excitement around here. Other than this board, i don't know where else his name can create so much play.

Ultimate benefactor of Will: The MD board, without him this place would sink into oblivion.

We were talking about other things before this little incident. But who really talks about Will except us?

I think Will should be pretty pleased about all the attention he's gotten regularly. Ultimate benefactor of this board: Will.

I'm was just playing, Buffalo. I surely should have put some smilies or something in there.

I don't really think any particular person or group is trying to build up Will to benefit from him. He's just a sole dude, it seems to me, playing the game his own way.

We only have Will's word that he's been allowed inside the vault. And we know how much his word is worth.

I'm the only one that voted for Oaks?

I thought Will himself mentioned that he and Oaks are buddies from way back, since high school, if I remember correctly.

Probably the two bogarters of their high school clique. ;)

How interesting! I don't recall ever seeing that. I wonder what Elder Oaks would make of Will's online antics, if this is indeed true. Maybe he is cheering Will on in secret. Maybe Elder Oaks is a huge fan of the boards and the Oaks meeting with Scott Gordon was actually facilitated by none other than Will himself! LOL. Who knows, eh?

Dallin Oaks was born in 1932. Just how old IS Will?
