Sure, but how would that be unexpected? I think the suspicion has been on since the beginning. "tips" somehow came in August of 2010? I know I'm completely out of the loop and therefore probably have absolutely no reason to talk, but this all just sounds so unprofessional, so deficient.

My bro has been in Afghanistan twice and Iraq as a special forces medic. he has, it seems, seen it all. I shouldn't even try to reveal some of the things he's struggled to let out, but from what I can get out of him, unprofessional and deficient seems to be an apt description.

Well, here I think some blame has to fall on our American culture. Our ignorance of Islam and the East is deeply profound and has cost us immeasurably. Look at the way that Iraq's reconstruction was botched on the front end. The decision to enter Iraq and the fantastical vision they had of the outcome--both of these things reveal in very stark terms the complete failure of knowledge and imagination that we have concerning one of the most pervasive of world cultures. That is what is criminal.

While US Intelligence hasn't lived up to the Hollywood hype, they probably deserve more credit than the man on the street is giving them. We've taken out literally hundreds of low-, mid-, and high-level Taliban and Al Qaeda types in Afghanistan and Pakistan for years with the drones, and special forces raids and whatnot. Getting promoted in al Qaeda or the Taliban looks more and more like a death sentence every day.

Until we whacked him, Bin Laden's continued existence on Earth constituted a giant middle-finger to the US by that whole taliban/al qaeda movement. His death is a loud and clear "right back atcha, douchebags!"

While I do feel unsettled about the celebrations surrounding his death, I certainly don't regret that we got him. He deserved what he got many times over, and I'm glad that scumbag is no more.

They go in, and with relatively little collateral damage kill Bin Laden, take possession of the body, positively ID him, and then bury him at sea. I only wish they would have recorded the SEALS pouring pigs blood on his corpse, and pissing all over him and then broadcast the video to the world.

Now that would have been a really clever idea.

By doing as you suggest the US could have made it clear to every Muslim in the world that it was not just after Al Qaeda and its leaders, but also wanted to show the most obvious possible disrespect for their religious customs. That would really have capitalized on the public relations aspect of OBL's death to the maximum extent and thus made the world a safer place for all Americans.

I wonder why the people in charge didn't think of that?

Interestingly, the intel that eventually led to bin Laden's whereabouts traces right back to 2007 interrogations at Gitmo, those waterboardings of KSM.

But we are talking about a wedding with a very important cake, not the Titanic. It might seem that the frosting would not be a big deal. I think that is why it makes a seemingly good analogy for Democrat/Rep presidents. All I'm trying to say is for a nice wedding cake, the frosting is a very big deal both for taste and for looks. The frosting makes the cake, actually. The frosting is the substance, you could say. The use of frosting in analogies for things that don't matter has been overused because people are no longer able to appreciate very good frostings. If people really appreciated frosting, they would make analogies to frostings that implied significance.

Well, if I was forced to eat a turd, I guess I would at least ask for some frosting to help it go down. I admit it, I wouldn't care if the frosting was made with cheap extract and margarine or not...

But my point still stands and I'm sticking with it! If we are to compare two wedding cakes and each was made with a different frosting, they are no longer the same cake at all. They are very, very different in taste, texture, color, substance, meaning, smell, and presentation.
