Near as I can tell it is a churchwide belief that those who are born "not accountable" were only in need of gaining a body. I don't hear too much talk about "more valiant" but I do hear it often said they only needed a body (since they are unable to be tested in this life).

There is an unaccountable person in my family of origin. We've always been taught and believed that that family member was going straight to the CK, per LDS doctrine. There is another family with an unaccountable child in our ward. This belief is expressed very frequently by members of the ward and stake.

Not everyone who is autistic is incapable of understanding right and wrong. Autism is a spectrum disorder.
That's General Leo. He could be my friend if he weren't my enemy.

That is not the official position of the Church.

Perhaps not, but it stands to reason that if a soul is bypassing the "testing" requirement of mortality, with a ticket already stamped for the CK, that soul would have to be pretty special.

Ever seen the Night Gallery where the president's son, who is deformed, is given the opportunity to do an exchange with the son of the president of the newly discovered Martian race? Neither side has seen each other, but in the corridor of the spaceship, as they dock, the earth teen is shocked when a handsome male meets him as they intersect in their exchange. Both are disappointed, but neither knows why the other is sad. You find out as the deformed earth guy enters the Martian space ship and is greeted by a bunch of adoring females who have the same appearance as him.

Point is, what may be seen as a disorder in one culture could be seen as a positive trait in another. I just spoke to a guy doing some work in China and his was shocked that Chinese girls think the characters from "Big Bang Theory" are the hottest stars on an American TV show. And don't the characters fit the characteristics of high functioning Aspergers?

I do not think these kids have anything wrong -- they are just different from the norm, that is all.

You are right, krose, except for one, minor detail: LDS teachings stand against reason more often than not.
