Happy Mother's Day!
Hello Ladies,
I just wanted to take a moment to wish you all a Happy Mother's Day and find out what you're doing to celebrate!
On behalf of the universe, I would like to thank you for:
Birthing your babies!
Living with a changing body!
Around the clock feedings!
Changing all those diapers!
Bathing your children!
Meeting your children's needs!
Soccer, gymnastics, ballet, tap, Karate, T-ball, Sunday School, summer camp, band practices and concerts, scouts, driving lessons, etc. (and etc!)!!!!
Being Santa and the Easter Bunny!
Birthday parties!
Halloween nights of trick or treating (trunk or treating!)
Making all those meals and snacks!
Teaching them to clean up their room (this is on-going, no?)
Cleaning up those scraped knees and kissing their "owies"!
Making sure they brush their teeth!
Trips to the orthodontist!
Midnight ER visits!
Parent/Teacher Conferences!
Homework help!'
School plays and performances!
and an enormous amount of services that are indeed too long to list!
But most of all, thank you for teaching your children about life by living it in front of them!
Happy Day Mom's!
Jersey Girl
:-)
p.s. What are you doing to celebrate your special day?

I'll be calling my deceased grandmother's phone number and talking into the silence.

Re: Happy Mother's Day!
Going to answer my own question now!
The answer to how I am celebrating today is: nothing! A fairly long standing tradition around here is that we delay Mother's Day for when the garden can be planted which is on or around May 15 where we live. Then, the Jersey chicklets help pick up bedding plants to put around the periennels's and into whiskey barrels, rake out the flower beds and planters, put out the bird feeders, and help Jersey Mom spruce up the old homestead for summer!
This Jersey Mother's Delayed Day, we will be planting a boat load of:

and

and

The Jersey chicklets have checked in with Happy Wishes and I am blissfully poking around doing things like re-organizing smalls spaces, and later, I plan to make some white clay tags that I saw on my favorite blog:
http://www.abeachcottage.com/
and otherwise listening to the Pugs snore in the background!
Hope your day is wonderful, too, and just remember:
There is no such thing as too many Pansies!!

For more than a year after my Mother died, I thought of calling her phone number and thought that she might answer the phone, so I could just hear her talk to me again.
Do it, Blixa.

Re: Happy Mother's Day!
We started celebrating on Friday:
1. the garden and lawn look very nice, thanks to the efforts of 2 of my sons and their families.
2. I planted my washtubs (ancient aluminum wash tubs that are on an equally ancient metal cart, that I have filled with potting mix and flowers for the last 2 years) with colorful annuals.
Saturday:
1. went to my granddaughter's fundraiser at the neighborhood Applebee's (pancakes, sausage, and juice. I tipped the waitress a LOT).
2. with 4 of my children and assorted grandchildren, we went to a restaurant that my MIL could drive her wheelchair to. We had Mexican food, which she loves. We gave her a corsage, and a bunch of tulips, a flower arrangement, and a new outfit. We plan more similiar outings this summer when the weeather is nicer.
Sunday:
1. this morning, we went to church. I left right after the Primary children sang. I simply cannot bear the pain of sitting in the chapel, but I endured until my grandsons had sung their songs.
2. I am currently making stuffed pork chops, mashed potatoes, green beans, pickles, and a green salad for lunch. Hopefully someone brings dessert. Otherwise, I'm going to be reduced to having an ice cream sundae.
Later on:
1. Next Saturday, I will take my momma to a concert put on by the local high school choral group, which is very very good and which she has enjoyed many times with me in the past. I asked her if she wanted to go out to dinner last night, but she prefers to have "experiences" instead of meals. So I'll get tickets and she'll be happy. I also bought her a plant and a card, just 'cause.

(Nevo, Jan 23) And the Melchizedek Priesthood may not have been restored until the summer of 1830, several months after the organization of the Church.

Making dinner for mom. I also gave a sacrament meeting talk on the subject. I think it went very well.

Happy Mother's Day everyone!
Nothing too different from every other Sunday.
Went to 3 hours of church. My youngest kiddos sang in SM. Got a flower in a plastic cup.
Skype with my brother on his mission. That is different than usual.
Attend a Family History Class tonight.
