Hery ya stem,

I realize this.

I have too. And I worked there more recently than old Runtu, as I recall.

If I may ask.
What did you do there?

I've been through pretty much every floor and its a delightful array of cubicles, offices, conference rooms, and office storage space. Somebody said the main floor has a cafeteria, I believe. no. that's the floor just below the main floor. The 26th floor is able to be a big old meeting room, or banquet style spot. In Salt Lake City its a pretty big building, but in other big cities its not that impressive.

I will not argue (on either side) about the structure being a "pretty big building in SLC" or "impressive".
I will suggest that ( for a church office building) it is HUGE (and I was very surprised when I saw pictures of it)

by the way: My surprise should, in no way, be taken to mean anything other than what it simply means. I was very surprised.

Now that I think about it, I don't think I've ever made it to 7th through 11thish floors. I might have seen them from the elevator though. Anyway, i can't speak to those floors.

Okay.

Peace,

It wouldn't. There are bribery scandals all over the place at any given time for any given event. Why focus on Utah's? There is only one reason: because Joseph doesn't like Utah. He should move.

There are 28 floors, plus 3 lower levels (the 28th floor is a sort of half-floor used for storage and equipment.

Are they all LDS offices?

Yep.

Have any of you ever been in the building?

I worked there for 2 years in the early 1990s.

Is that where FAIR/FARMS is?

No.

Is it open to the public (Can Ceeboo go poking around?)

Last time I was there the public was welcome.

Can President Monson be found there?

No, he's in the Administration Building located at 47 East South Temple.

Anything else you can offer to help me get a better understanding?

It's just an office building where the staffs of most of the church's departments work.

Or--even better--work to change it. Right, Simon?

...

Or are you saying that Mormons should also move out of America (or other countries) if they don't like the culture(s)?

Are you saying that LDS shouldn't work to change their environments? (You know, kind of like you're working to try to change the culture of this board?)

Or are you saying LDS are justified in trying to change the world but non-LDS are not--they should "move"?

I'm trying to clarify.

No. It's fine the way it is. It has roughly the same amounts of problems as every other state. So what?

The only thing I am doing is trying to stop the hate.

You've slipped upon the slope you've created. All I said was that it's pointless to bitch about Utah when you chose to live there.

Simon-

You missed one of the questions:

"Or are you saying that Mormons should also move out of America (or other countries) if they don't like the culture(s)?"

How is telling someone who doesn't like Utah to move any different than telling Mormons to stop complaining and move when they don't like the environment?

I heard this retort many times growing up in Utah. I think it is used by Mormons to reaffirm that Utah is their Kingdom and that outsiders are not welcome. This retort sends bad karma out into the Universe.

Blixa Question below

I was curious as to whether this cataloging system used any Deseret Alphabet characters and whether there was any references to the secret of the Bees.

Simon,

It's a well-established fact that Latter-Day Saints receive great blessings for following the gospel and keeping the commandments and their covenants.

When we look at Utah, we see that it has 'roughly the same amounts of problems as every other state'.

It seems that in order for Utah to have, overall, the same amounts of problems as other places, and since it has highly-blessed Latter-Day Saints making up some 60% of the population, it follows that it must have a non-LDS population which suffers under a higher rate of cursings-per-capita than the non-LDS citizens of other states in order for it to all equal out.

Now we know why it sucks to be non-Mormon in Utah, right?

I left Utah many, many years ago because I was a nevermo and needed to find a life that did not have such a heavy LDS influence.

I'm surprised that the problems in Utah did not drop dramatically after I left. :)
This, or any other post that I have made or will make in the future, is strictly my own opinion and consequently of little or no value.
