Re: "Mormon Scholars Testify" Beset By Even More Problems
It's funny how we grow up being taught that we should find out for ourselves if the church is true but then we find our faith being supported on the fact that many others believe.
Oh for shame, how the mortals put the blame on us gods, for they say evils come from us, but it is they, rather, who by their own recklessness win sorrow beyond what is given... Zeus (1178 BC)

Finding this out is like learning that the old Smurfs cartoon isn't doing as well as it used to: "Oh really? Hmph. Well... I didn't care about it when it was popular, either."
Seriously, what is MST? It's a bunch of people with a degree talking about how irrational they are to justify for lesser educated people that it's ok to be irrational. Whoopee.

God belief is for people who don't want to live life on the universe's terms.

I think that Dr. Peterson's boasting in that post that Simon quoted is very interesting and revealing. Just look at the way that he pridefully exclaims that he "met [his goal] without even a single gap, interruption, or pause. All year long." It's as if the rate itself is more important than the content of the testimonies. I see that Nehor and Simon are bawling with indignation over this, and yet I bet that neither of them can cogently summarize which testimonies have been interesting/helpful to them (and why). It's as if the only thing anyone cares about is that MST exists.
Maybe that was, at base, the full scope of DCP's "goals"?

Doctor Scratch,
In all fairness your original post was about the rate of posting and I think you had your points answered. Factually and accurately, and you were shown to be making false accusations about what target was set etc.
Get over it instead of trying to move the goal posts...

Morality is doing what is right, regardless of what you are told.
Religion is doing what you are told, regardless of what is right.

Hi there, jon.
Actually, the apologists have been dodging and avoiding my questions since Day 1. What *is* the goal exactly? Is the site a missionary effort? A subtle attempt at apologetics? A massive appeal to authority? All of the above? Surely you can't blame a scholar of Mopologetic Studies for being curious about such things. Ergo, when Dr. Peterson finally caved in and offered up some numbers related to his expectations for the site, he opened the door for commentary on the posting rate, which, as I've correctly pointed out numerous times, has declined. And I don't think you can deny that he has always been extremely boastful about the posting rate, the setting of goals, and etc.

It is true that the stated purpose of the site has not been consistently represented in response to online queries.

And why shouldn't they? Your questions are always loaded and/or leading. You have an ulterior motive each time you pose one. Apologists are under no obligation to answer your questions.

What is the goal of any website? To get people to visit it. What is the goal of a testimony? To inspire others, and to inspire oneself. Sometimes the goal of a website is just to have a website. The call to write can be powerful; indeed it can be so powerful that millions of people sign up for blogs and write to their hearts content, knowing that it may never be read.
Surely you can't blame a scholar of Mopologetic Studies for being curious about such things.
You can't be a scholar of something that doesn't exist.
Ergo, when Dr. Peterson finally caved in and offered up some numbers related to his expectations for the site, he opened the door for commentary on the posting rate, which, as I've correctly pointed out numerous times, has declined.
You aren't the one who pointed it out. Dr. Peterson is. He deliberately lowered the posting rate so that he can "relax a bit." Read his statement above.
And I don't think you can deny that he has always been extremely boastful about the posting rate, the setting of goals, and etc.
I deny it.
And how's your little project doing, compared to Mormon Scholars Testify?

I think so. This is one that I would highly recommend reading.
