Another religious icon falls to porn.

I suppose if we want to we can spin this to make it look as if he was just a regular guy until porn took over his life and drove him to do nasty things. So when did he become addicted to porn?
Note: There is probably a good chance the porn was planted to make him look bad to his followers, but why let that cloud over the issue that to some porn is the causative variable in almost every bad thing on earth?

I would have been surprised if he didn't have porn, or some other addictive and distasteful product. He wasn't an otherwise well-adjusted individual.

Well, since lies can be very powerful...(see above).
One wonders though, if we were to raid the home of people who get speeding tickets would we likely find porn in their history files? Did porn make them break traffic laws?
And one thing I would like to ask -- does anyone here on this board personally know married couple that has divorced because the husband used porn occasionally? I know that absolutely no Mormon woman looks at porn so I am just centering the question on men.

I don't know any personally, but I would certainly question the wisdom of a woman who would divorce her husband in an otherwise happy marriage over his porn use. I can hardly think of a dumber reason to break up a marriage. Seriously, a woman could not understand men less then to think they care more about a naked woman in a picture on anywhere near the same level they care about their wives (assuming, like I said, an otherwise happy marriage). Porn is about momentary stimulation, not long term intimacy.
God belief is for people who don't want to live life on the universe's terms.

Well, I'm certainly not arguing that porn is the root of all evil. I didn't know anyone did argue that. I do find porn quite repugnant. I've had quite a few speeding tickets, but there's no porn in my history files, thank you.

I know of two Mormon couples that watch some porn together. They happen to be the easiest ones to get along with in the last 5 or 6 years.

I find discussions about the P word to be very silly, for the simple reason that no one can give me a good definition of what it is, exactly.
For example, I have no idea whether the breadth of material Lucretia finds "repugnant" would include something like the Victoria's Secret catalog or a Lady Gaga video. (I'm positive it would for my sisters and many others.)

Umm, no, I don't consider those things to be porn. I know what porn is. I didn't just fall off the turnip truck.

Re: Another religious icon falls to porn.
First, I would like to know what kinds of porn the CIA agents, who were with the Navy Seals, planted in the house that was supposed to contain Bin Laden.
As for the porn issue, I still contend that many in the Church are treating the issue in a Reefer Madness sort of way. I was on a trip and ran into a woman who happened to be Mormon. She joined my group's conversation and one of my female colleagues mentioned a porn movie she and her female friends had viewed a couple nights earlier. Our guest suddenly told her that porn was more addictive than heroine and that if she did not stop soon her life would spiral into oblivion. My friend just stared at her in disbelief.
Thing is, if the Mormon lady had merely said that she opposed porn because you are paying someone to do something contrary to the Bible, or that many participants in porn don't want to be there but are trying to get money to take care of their children, or pay for college, then I believe my friend would have been left with at least a rational reason porn is bad. However, from what I could see in my friend the first thing she probably did when she returned home was pop in a porn DVD just out of anger.

I wouldn't believe at face value anything the government said they found at the compound. Much better to see the proof that it was in the compound and actively used by the occupants. At this moment the government may wish to try sow a wedge between the followers of Bin Laden. It is not uncommon to make your former enemy look bad or evil. And the US has had experience in doing this during the 1960's as well with Martin Luther King and the student protest movements from that time.
I suppose there is nothing wrong in all this but to take anything at face value when it comes to love or war would be mistake.
