It is possible to 'spin' these stories in any direction one wishes. Bin Laden may have used porn, Saddam may have had a liking for youthful members of his own gender. National and International intelligence agencies do like to 'smear' all kinds of people with this sort of stuff, true or not.

I am broad minded enough to accept that some people will get their rocks off with the odd look at porn, however, what was/is more disturbing is the ongoing bacha bazi or "boy for play" living porn that goes on in some Islamic cultures.

The television documentary, The Dancing Boys of Afghanistan gave a glimpse of this form of child abuse, boys being selected for their 'looks' and made to dress up like women and dance for tribal elders et al.

One reason the Taliban came to power was their promise to fight the practice of rich or powerful men in Afghanistan raping little boys. It is a practice that goes totally contrary to the Koran and should not be used to smear all of Islam any more than one has a right to smear Jews and Christians for making up the majority of stars and producers of porn.

You know what it is for you, which may be very different for others. As I said, some people include lingerie/swimsuit pictures in their definition, while others don't include nudity at all.

My point is that a term is not very useful if everyone has a different standard for what it includes, especially if the term is used as justification to outlaw or condemn. As I recall, "pornography" is officially defined as visual material that erotically stimulates. That has almost everything to do with the individual's reaction to any given image, and very little to do with the material itself.

Note: There is probably a good chance the porn was planted to make him look bad to his followers, but why let that cloud over the issue that to some porn is the causative variable in almost every bad thing on earth?

Right, the CIA never does anything like that any more than they looked into putting drugs into Fidel Castro's food to make his beard fall out (seriously, how rude considering they funded Castro in the early days of his revolution). Oh, and the government would never claim that North Vietnamese attacked a ship in the Gulf of Tonkin in order to justify a war that would eventually cost 58 thousand young Americans.
