Dang, I'll be headed back to church if this is the beginning of a new fade.

hatersinmyward wrote:First background on this church leader.

he is a published public speaker, he told all sorts of plotted out lies but i will tell about one in particular, this is the one i exposed him for.

this picture of Jesus was crooked on the wall in the sunday school room, i didn’t even notice it was crooked until the room was half filled with ward members. so he walks up to the picture and straightens it, takes a step back looks at again, walks back up to the picture to put the finishing touches on it. it was a big picture easily 2.5' - 3'

he gets up says "i couldn't stand the picture of our lord and savior Jesus Christ being crooked on the wall" says some more b.s. i can’t recall then asks the class "how many of you have ever been on a military base" i raised my hand with maybe a dozen other people. he continues talking and says" i was in a caravan on a military base in texas i think it was. while we were on the base after we went through 1 or 2 checkpoints we were stopped by a military cemetery , it was raining all muddy and there were these flaggs up just little ones at each marker they all had a little light shining on each one, that's WHEN I GIGGLED A BIT FOR THE FIRST TIME.
then he said he walked over to a crooked flag and made it straight.

in the rain. on a military base cemetery, and passed two security check points.

hahaha.

his wife got up after and gave a big in between the lines speech about how full of crap her husband was, how she hated life, how she couldn't leave him and how stupid we were for saying amen after his shenanigans.

I LAUGHED AGAIN

she looked at me like it was my duty to stop it, with a raised eyebrow scowl.

that was one of the last times i went to church.

In short, I don't believe your story.

Years back, we had this man, 50'ish at the time, married TBM's. Active in the ward. He was the kind that was always throwing out off the wall statements in SS classes.

One Fast and Testimony Sunday, he gets up in Sacrament meeting and proceeds to name off about 6 of the girls (all in young woman's age groups, all present) that they were going to be his polygamist wives.

The Bishopric had to surround him and escort him out of the building (for his own safety - the fathers were about to kill him).
Once again, some more like that would get me back as well.

Come on Simon, this guys story is mild compared to mine (which is indeed true, Heber 1st ward legend). His surviving widow is still in my wifes ward (heber 6th I think)

He was back the following Sunday, did not pass on for years after ... for the adults, it was more of a, "oh that's just John", like you would give leniency to a mentally retarded person. But I cannot image that this was not an ongoing traumatic thing for the young women.
