Mormon Church negotiates for Italian Welfare!
I have a question please.
Salt lake always states that everyone should stand on their won feet, not take handouts and if anyone has issues to go to their family first. This is not a point of question.
salt lake is in negotiation to get free Italian Government tax money (Gov't Welfare). This is a system set up by the Catholic people (99.999% of Italy) for their Church, the Catholic Church. Why is the Mormon Church with their money and power standing in line with hat in hand to see i
how much they can get from this? i always thought that if the Mormon Church came to a party they'd contribute and not want to just eat others food.
what are your feelings on the Mormons wanting tax payer money in Italy??
Don

Re: Mormon Church negotiates for Italian Welfare!
Are you saying that the Catholic church is on welfare?
Not all tax spending should be called welfare. If the Italian government has some kind of program where they give money to religious organizations (strange) why shouldn't religions other than Catholic get in on it?
The Catholic church has a lot of money and power, too. Why do they get Italian welfare?
I don't personally really care since I'm not Italian. I think that government taxes should not subsidize religion, but that is my opinion.
Do you have an article about this you can share with us?

Interesting information, Vegasdon. Do you have any online sources that we could go to in order to check this claim out?
All I can say is that the LDS Church is accustomed to being subsidized by all of the people in this country who do pay taxes in the form of tithes, offerings, and their tax-exempt status.
Obviously, they get their own form of handouts in this country, so it would not be surprising to me at all to find them approaching the Italian government with their hands out waiting for their cut of those tax dollars.
In a way, the LDS Church is like any other corporation, except that it is managed by men who are less savvy than your average CEO and who are unlikely to be fired for screwing up. In this country, corporations and banks get billions of dollars in taxpayer welfare. It is in that mode of doing business that the LDS Church has its hands outstretched to feed on the labors of the Italian worker.

Excuse me? Are you saying men who have spent virtually their entire lives pigging out in the church tithing trough and getting worshipped for their poor business decisions aren't savvy? That sounds pretty savvy to me!

Sorta like the stone rolling forth?
(Nevo, Jan 23) And the Melchizedek Priesthood may not have been restored until the summer of 1830, several months after the organization of the Church.

I consider the truly savvy businessman to be the one who doesn't screw up to the tune of billions of dollars in cost overruns on projects and the like.
Leeching is not something I admire.

A rolling stone gathers no moss; it gathers the revenues raised from the common person hard at work to support a family.

If the Church of the Devil does it lds-inc should be running away from it. If, that is, they are not two sides of the same coin.

The Church is being mocked based on unsubstantiated rumors....
What a surprise.

I am currently in agreement with Nehor that this looks like a complete fabrication.

I asked for the evidence. I don't think we'll see any.

How can not having money stolen from you equal getting money from the thief? I choose to root for the slaves who leave the plantation and hope someday I can also be "subsidized".
