It's also especially unfortunate in that, by determinedly gleaning this handful of trash-talk instances out of thousands of posts, Auntie Jack seems to have managed to (at least temporarily) delayed publication of research to which the trash in question is entirely irrelevant.

Especially since there has been trash talk directed at Will. I think the problem is rather simple: when one has been on the boards as long as Will and has received many attacks against their person and the church they love, one may begin to attack rather harshly the posters one responds to.

Now of course, we all know that church members should be perfect or darn near perfect on boards such as this, but perfection is hard to come by at times within the human species.

However to have someone gleam through posts made on a discussion board to prevent someone from being published is quite a happening. Freedom can be limited at times, especially by feminists and liberals. I am not proud of that fact because I have seen it happen before and I do consider myself on the left, but such is the way it is.
I intend to lay a foundation that will revolutionize the whole world.

I rather think that Pahoran is here in part out of fear. To a certain extent, what has happened with Will is a sign of the tides changing in Mopologetics. Now, I don't want to subtract any of the credit away from MsJack for collecting and organizing all that material, but I have to wonder if this "cancellation" would have been possible without a few other factors coming into play. I've speculated elsewhere that there seems to be a new, less-hostile Mopologetic vanguard in the form of people like D. Bokovoy and Blair Hodges---young Mopologists who disapprove of the bellicose tactics that were pioneered by Midgley, Peterson, et al. This vanguard didn't hesitate to condemn Will's behavior.

My point here is that Pahoran may very well feel that he's next up on the chopping block. After Will, Pahoran is the one individual who is probably the most detrimental to the apologists' goals. So, if this really is the death knell for Will as a Mopologist, you sort of have to wonder if Pahoran is next. Certainly, it would be a bold and powerful move if Bokovoy and the rest of the Vanguard began to chastise Pahoran for his hyper-aggressive antics. If they were to shut down Pahoran, they would be several steps closer to the sort of "bridge building" that, in the hands of DCP, seemed like mere rhetoric and hot wind.

Aren't they proven apostates? ;-)

I mean, the very fact that they would take exception to the rhetoric of a man whose calling and election is made sure is very telling. Don't you think?

Poor LOaP. He was so promising. Then he turned on Will and was broken on the very same stone as MsJack, just as Will himself predicted.

Haven't we already seen signs of that? If memory serves, FARMS published one of Pahoran's articles, then washed their hands of him and kicked him to the curb shortly thereafter. He's never published with them since, right?

You're not saying that they no longer value his biting sarcasm as much as they used to, are you?

I guess he'll always have Jersey Girl's admiration, in any case.

That must be what happened. Pahoran must have bombarded them with submissions that got regularly turned down.

Or something like that.

Why don't you ask Scratch's alters, I mean informants? I'm sure they've got the inside scoop; on the inside of Scratch's skull, anyway.

According to his author page at the NAMIRS site, he's been published in the FARMS Review a total of three times, with the most recent time being in 2002. Looks like FARMS or NAMIRS or whatever they want to call themselves nowadays haven't had a use for Pahoran for quite some time now, and I'd be mighty surprised if the current state of things changes any time soon....

Sort of. You're right that Pahoran has never again been invited to write articles for the M.I. Even Gary Novak managed to publish more with FARMS than Pahoran, which I think is remarkably telling. Still, the old guard apologists tend to defend or overlook Pahoran's antics. I believe that Dan Peterson described him as a "kind man," which is just stunning.

In any case, I would think that the Vanguard would need to eliminate him if they hope to achieve all their goals.

Yes. This is true. Dr. Peterson found the discontinuity between his charming manner in person and his bizarre behavior online very confusing. At least, that is the impression he gave me.

Eliminate me, eh?

Hang on, I just have to answer the door...
