A 12 year old boy has more authority in the church than his
mother does. It's sort of mind blowing to think about how messed up that is. The priesthood ban is one of the more disturbing things about Mormonism; the LDS church is by its very nature a sexist organization. Did anyone else get the "Licked Cupcake" lesson?

His mother brought him into the world. She can also take him out.

Um. No. Not legally according to government or church.

I got a couple variations. I got the chewed gum lesson and a crushed flower.
Good times.
for what it's worth, I do not think the church has healthy teachings or views of human sexuality. I believe that this is just as damaging to boys/men as it is to girls/women.
The priesthood ban is very disturbing. What is the most disturbing about it is the stupid sexist excuses that have been born from it. They are damaging to both men and women. For example, we have men here who believe that women are better than men (more spiritual, charitable, etc) and that is why they can't have the priesthood. Pretty warped.

And as I recently learned with my own 12 year old deacon he might still believe in Santa Claus.

Do you always spew irrelevant nonsense when you are confronted with substantive criticisms of the LDS church?

I agree that it is a very damaging lesson (it teaches people to be ashamed of their sexual urges), but I don't think it is as damaging to men as it is to girls. The male lesson, If I recall correctly, is that you don't want a licked cupcake so don't lick cupcakes that don't belong to you. It is teaching them to objectify women, which is bad, but not as bad as making them ashamed of their sexual urges.just me wrote:malaise wrote:mother does. The other bizarre excuse is that women already have the ability to give birth, so men need the priesthood in order to be equal to them. It's all a load of nonsense that was invented to shut up young girls who wonder why their brothers get special privileges that they don't.
