What Mormons do in their private lives is not always in accordance with doctrine. A 12 year old boy who holds the priesthood has more authority in the Church than his mother; the fact that she may be much more mature, responsible, and capable than he is only underscores the absurdity of this teaching.

My teenage son can pass the sacrament in church. A teenage boy can prepare the sacrament in church. A teenage boy can bless the sacrament in church. A teenage boy can baptize a person in the church. A teenage boy can confirm a member of the church with the holy ghost. A teenage boy can bless a baby-give them a name and a blessing in front of the congregation. A teenage boy can give a blessing of healing-anoint and seal.

A teenage girl can do none of that. Wait. A full grown woman can't either.

But, the authority to act in god's name and participate in the sacrament should not be misunderstood as actual authority. *eyeroll*

More authority for what? I think this is where you lose me. I have a different view of what is priesthood authority than you, methinks.

Hell, a woman can't even give a prayer in General Conference.

Also, I understand that a woman can be excommunicated by a bishop, but to excommunicate a man you need a stake president.

There are no women with the authority to call people or release people from callings. In other words, men are in control of all the positions in the church.

that has nothing to do with authority. its not that they can't...its just that its not set up to be that way. Which is stupid, I admit.

Yeah, it's stupid. So is the priesthood ban.

I disagree that it has nothing to do with authority. Those in authority are MEN and the MEN have decided that women cannot give prayers in GC. I guess we are supposed to happy that the ban on women GC speakers wase lifted some years ago.
