Re: OPINIONS WANTED: Should I delete obsolete chat threads?
Oh my, I thought I was the analytical one on the board (ie weather the icy winter of ___'s analytical side... some here may remember that comment from another board. I'll never forget it, loved it).
Perhaps chat threads could have an expiration date so they can be deleted without the apperance of censorship.

In order to prevent board clutter and avoid inflating our thread count, I would like to delete all the former threads that invite people to chat. Since all of them but the current one (on any given day) are obsolete, they serve no purpose.
The problem is, one of our founding principles is to not delete threads like the MD&D (formerly MA&D, formerly FAIR) moderators routinely do. If I go through with this, would I be accused of being no better than them?
So, I'd like to get y'all's input on the matter. Thanks in advance.
If you really want to prevent board clutter and inflation of thread count, you should delete all of Joseph's threads (like "the Church hates Linux!!!!1" and "What if Christ was called Butts?!?!?"). 99% of his threads are so stupid that they are beyond description.

...and Simon Belmont reads and posts a contribution on all of them. Go figure...

I say join them together or delete them. Whatever.

Rather then deleting them, I would suggest putting them all on gold plates and just burying them.

I don't really care what happens to them. I just mentioned joining them together as a possibility that doesn't require deleting if people are really against it.

I can't believe I'm in the total minority on this issue lol. Perhaps instead of deleting they can be sent to Outer Darkness for the previous reasons I've listed. At least they'll be maintained in case of any actual conversations that went on on them. The subtitle to Outer Darkness could be changed to include "expired chat threads" or something similar. Scanning down to the most recent chat thread started by Stak there is actual joking around and banter beyond the original chat notification, a lot of threads are similar. Send them to outer darkness, where they'll continue to exist for the time capsule.

Whatever appears to be against the Book of Mormon is going to be overturned at some time in the future. So we can be pretty open minded.-charity 3/7/07

Did my post not go up or what? (Talking to myself here ;-)
Since Stak and Blixa make most of the chat announcements and Stak has offered his opinion, I'll wait for Blixa to chime in before voting.
Feel free to delete any chat announcements that I've made.
