Perhaps sacrificing the truth is sufficient nowadays...

Ah, so you subscribe to the Joseph school of thinking where derailing the topic with a new and unrelated accusation when you are losing means you are now winning?

Okay, I will put you on ignore then.

It's seems funny to me that ritual animal sacrifice to commemorate or symbolize Christ's death is great, yet wearing a cross in rememberance is horrible. It makes me lol.

The same reasons I have heard that LDS don't wear crosses could be said about why we wouldn't do animal sacrifice.

Animal sacrifice will come back around the same time the LDS begin observance of the Jewish holy days. Never.

I've considered it and expect it will happen

I'm not sure what the "it" is here.

The 'mainstreaming' everyone says is more an attempt to get our beliefs and lifestyle out there rather then to make Christians think we are 'just like them'

I'm not sure this is as simple as you claim. Might you admit that LDS are waging a campaign that their self identification as Christian be legitamized?

The CoC has been trying to do this for years and has been willing to go much farther then we will ever be willing to and they still haven't succeeded.

True. But the CoC can not bring as much muscle to the fight as LDS can.

The claim to being Christian is not something that we recently came up with; it is just something we've recently had a pulpit from which to share. Give it a few more years and the media will probably shift gears again and we'll probably go back to being portrayed as weirdos again.

Not being trite here, but.... I was unaware that the view has shifted all that much. Hence the intensity by which LDS want to be considered denominational Christians.

You're being awfully sensitive over one little clever jab.

A derail that has nothing to do with the topic isn't clever. It's cowardly and is generally the product of a weak mind floundering for a counterattack.

I stand by my assessment.

I also find it curious that the sensitivity of critics is never brought up when they fire back at apologists. Fascinating.....you'd almost think it was just a rhetorical trick.

Animal sacrifice.

We'd like to be obviously. I think the description is accurate for us. However I think the campaign is more about what we are rather then trying to get into the "Christian club"

The CoC has been trying to do this for years and has been willing to go much farther then we will ever be willing to and they still haven't succeeded.

True. But the CoC can not bring as much muscle to the fight as LDS can.

I don't think it is a matter of muscle. We aren't going to buy our way into other Christian religious leaders thinking we are Christian. We might be able to make a few people wonder with our campaigns though. If that gets missionaries in more doors, mission successful.

Not being trite here, but.... I was unaware that the view has shifted all that much. Hence the intensity by which LDS want to be considered denominational Christians.

I think the media was treating the LDS Church pretty favorably for a while. Prop 8 reversed a lot of that good feeling though. Such is life.
