oh my freaking heck
I don't feel guilty or bad about sex, and I think I would be classified as "religious". Makes me wonder if this is some sort of atheist propaganda....be an atheist and have better sex!!!! Sex sells? Maybe bringing back pagan temple prostitution would sooth the need of people who want sex as the center of everything, and thinking that the gods are watching, and waiting for sex to be placed on their altar.
This isn't the Christian mindset.
Peace.

Being a Christian is not the result of an ethical choice or a lofty idea, but the encounter with an event, a person, which gives life a new horizon and a decisive direction -Pope Benedict XVI

If you read carefully, it's only the most fundamentalist/conservative sect members who are hyper guilty about sex and have the worst sex lives.

What? What???
Could you narrow your question down a bit? I suspect I know where your disagreement lay, but I can't be sure. Here, I'll take a stab anyway.
From the pulpit of the many, many different churches I've attended, the theme is simple. We should make ourselves available to our spouses as much as possible. I don't see why that's a bad thing.

Yeah, per the article, at home in front of the computer.
But this begs a question. Are religious parents less comfortable talking about sex with their kids than non-religious parents? My parents were not comfortable, but I would attribute that to the culture. It might be that Mormons get more comfortable with the topic after BKP passes on and becomes a god.
I don't know, are they? My parents were not religious so the only thing upon which I can comment is my experience as a parent. And the disussions have been honest, forthright, and educational.

Here's what's remarkable: that you equate "having sex" with "failing." (The article was about sex causing guilt, right?)
I'm not sure if I should blame you or your religion for that, but either way... bummer.

Our religion asks us to have a standard of conduct that we strive to abide. This is true of sex outside of marriage as well as a lot of other things. When we act contrary to that standard we have failed. We have a standard. Do you?

Yes, my standard is to live life to the fullest, make informed decisions (like "I can marry this woman because I already know we're sexually compatible"), try not to hurt others, and don't give in to arbitrary, impractical rules made up by ancient men with limited knowledge who had no grasp of what it's like to live in the 21st century.
I suppose my standard is "what's pragmatic." Feeling guilt over mistakes that aren't really mistakes (except in the most arbitrary sense) certainly doesn't fit that standard. But hey, if you feel the need to rig the life game you're playing for failure, who am I to stop you?

That's not a standard. That's a philosophy.

Me to.

Oh, please. Do you honestly think humans have changed that much in 10,000 years?

you're not. But I'll put it to you simply. Do you or do you not have any standard for sexual expression?

Great quote. I often hear TBMs say they wouldn't know what to do without the church. I guess they assume they won't have anyone to go to to help them feel good about themselves, but without the church, they wouldn't have such low self esteem in the first place.

In a twist of expected irony, the thread I started about this article over on The Gated Community (a.k.a. MDD) was shut down within three posts because of the sexual nature of the article.
Kinda proves the point.
