Sheesh.

And clearly, not for the likes of you either.

If you didn't read the article, the core argument is, "In other words, pornography users became less capable of intimacy, kindness, mercy, sympathy, empathy, emotional connection and closeness, compassion and nurturing, which are the core elements of our humanity."

Exactly correct.

just me wrote:Here is a Q&A from the site:

Q: Is casual consumption of pornography a problem?

A: From Dr. Jill Manning’s point of view, pornography use to any degree, even if it involves one exposure, can be problematic if it:
1. Violates trust within a relationship
2. Puts employment or school admission at risk
3. Fuels global demand for this material
4. Reinforces or introduces beliefs which promote misogynistic views and attitudes
5. Is incongruent with religious or personal values and/or commitments
6. Increases the risk that children in the home will be exposed
7. Decreases well-being

Kinda hilarious to see that misogynistic attitudes are considered a problem.

Uh...I don't see "misogyny" as the core element here, but addiction.

This hasn't been my experience.

I have heard some people claim that most Mormon males use porn. If that is the case then if you hold a license in counseling here is your chance to make big bucks!!!! Okay, I know that there are actual criteria for "sex addiction" but hey, if the customer believes he is addicted....

On another note, if Mormon males are looking at this stuff (recently read an article that said that teens from strict religious environments get most of their sex ed from porn as they are too afraid to talk about sex openly) then if you are a lawyer here is your chance to rake in the bucks! The more this sort of thing is promoted the more that porn becomes the "get out of jail free" card, so to speak, whenever a woman is feeling a bit bad about a relationship. So if finances are bad it must be a punishment for the hubby looking at porn, if he is distant at times after working for hours each day to put food on the table then porn is really the blame he is not as perfect as Dr. Phil's TV persona. It is all porn.

Porn is an immoral business, but so one could say about alcohol companies as well as many of the big time pharmaceutical firms pushing drugs to alter people's minds.

Yes, and hence, not for you PP.
Nope, not needed.

I pointed this website out becuase the porn problem seem rampant in the Mormon church.

Could it perhaps be due to the Mormon sex protocol? Perhaps Mormon men see real sex, to the likes they have never themselves experienced due to this Mormon sex protocol seemingly enforced by Mormon wives?

I am not talking the extreme sicko kind of porn either. From discussions here and on other Mormon boards, most Mormon women do not enjoy sex. Perhaps Mormon men are drawn to porn because they see women actually enjoying sex?

Not painting all of Mormonism with a broad brush here; just that most Mormon women do not seem to enjoy sex outside of missionary position and/or for procreation only.

I think porn can give many wrong ideas about sex, or cause someone to experiment in things they might not have considered prior to watching it, but I would have to call for some sort of references here. I am pretty sure that empathy is something you either have, or you don't. I don't think viewing porn makes a normal person into a psychopath. As for intimacy, maybe actually seeing people have sex, and seeing it is normal and healthy, might actually increase intimacy for both men and women?

I think there are a lot of Mormon women who enjoy sex -- and I doubt they are the ones who are monitoring their husband's computer history files. There is a certain segment of the Mormon female population that resents the power Mormon men are given that the women have no access to. These women are thus given a means to symbolically castrate their priesthood holder if they catch him with porn.

Don't tell my former bishop's wife. She buys her nighties at Fredrick's of Hollywood.
(Nevo, Jan 23) And the Melchizedek Priesthood may not have been restored until the summer of 1830, several months after the organization of the Church.
