I never had the impression that the LDS church was interested in silencing victims by calling them snitches.
We hate to seem like we don’t trust every nut with a story, but there’s evidence we can point to, and dance while shouting taunting phrases.

Um, no.

Getting thrown into a prison in China for refusing to register your independent house church with the Three-Self Patriotic Movement is "persecution."

Being called on an Internet message board for making lewd, vulgar and misogynist comments is known as "just deserts."

Please don't insult the actual Christian martyrs of the world by comparing William's situation to theirs.

You just keep on skyrocketing further and further into the gutter, why me.

Hello Mr. Whyme,

How in the WORLD can you continue to be a Catholic with statements like this?

Now the dan fetish as been replaced with a Will fetish, so much so, that we have people on this board who paste and save LDS apologist posts in a file to bring them up when need be.

On this board, snitches are used and LDS apologists are tracked and monitored. Such is exmormon freedom of expression.

No, Why Me, what we have here is an Internet Community.

We interact with each other like a family. Sometimes families are rude. Sometimes they are dysfunctional. But at the end of the day, we all try to set aside petty differences and be friends.

That is why, when Will, or someone else, acts out in a hurtful manner, to not just one person on the board, but the majority, it really hurts.

It is even more ironic that this same group who you claim have "dog-piled" him is the group that was the most supportive when he was in crisis with his daughter's hospitalization several years ago:

My sincere thanks to all of you despicable apostates for expressing concern for the malignantly narcissistic yours truly and his family during our time of trial. By my calculations, well-wishes from the apostates outnumbered those of the TBMs by a ratio of 60/40, which either means you're all better people, or at least better at being politely (if not entirely sincerely) concerned about the welfare of your fellow man. The way I look at it, regardless of your underlying motivations, you still score highly for going to the effort. ;-)

As I've frequently made clear, I'm sure most of you, outside the realm of The Great and Spacious Trailer Park, are good-hearted, well-intentioned, admirable people. I imagine the same goes for most of the despicable, lying TBMs who congregate on the MAD board. Who knows, you might even outnumber them 60/40 in that regard! Especially if we're forced to include in the count people like me, right? ;-)

Now, can we all get back to doing what we know and do best: fighting with each other? The world just wouldn't be the same without these clear lines of demarcation between us.

Sincerely,

Will Schryver

You do realize that Will has on repeated occasions let me know that at least one person is keeping a file of my "greatest hits" for use at the appropriate time, don't you? For that matter, when I was suicidal, Juliann posted a bunch of snippets of things I'd written on RfM to show what an evil jerk/hypocrite I am.

This isn't solely a habit of critics.

I have claimed the same as you did when you said that this board is a dysfunctional family or marriage. But that is not the point. This is not a dysfunctional family when it comes to Will. It has become much more than a dysfunctional family or marriage. It has become obsessional when it comes to a particular personality within that family. Members of the family are stalking someone's posts, keeping track of the member's words, taking note of posts which may be brought up in the future to harm that particular member of the family and then dedicating negative threads to that one particular member for public viewing.

And on it continues and continues. And why? Because this member of the family was bold enough to use his real name. For the outside lurker look into this family, they may see something more than dysfunctional.

No it isn't, but the amount of threads dedicated to Will is overdone and over numbered. Putting myself in his position, I would be a little uncomfortable with all the attacks. We need to remember that such dedication can be seen by millions and not just by a select few who post on this board.

Yes, from your own protestant christian view we all deserve are just deserts. With this philosophy of yours, we would all be in the gutter of abuse from one another. Isn't there the concept of mercy in your protestant faith? Or is it an Old Testament type of justice that your faith adheres to?

I agree that way too much energy has been spent on Brother Schryver. I was just pointing out that, contrary to your assertion, this isn't just a problem for critics.

I have no idea what you mean by this.

Or this. Sounds like your anti-Protestant drivel creeping in again.

why me wrote:Isn't there the concept of mercy in your protestant faith? Or is it an Old Testament type of justice that your faith adheres to?

Of course I believe in mercy. But mercy sort of requires repentance first. And William was entirely unrepentant about his behavior on our forums.

Now that Will is out of the way, it will be interesting to see who next gets targeted for lynching.

Thanks, -Wade Englund-

Wade, I suspect other Mormons of good conscience recognized inapproriate name calling and language once it was pointed out. They felt no compunction to support it, even in the name of apologetics. William Schyver made a mistake. Best thing for him to do is suck in his pride, apologize to the women involved and then forget about the whole thing. Forgiveness be unto him.
