Hello Rich.

Interesting perspective you bring here. Someone who has read all of the LDS cannon and was not duped into joining. Good for you!

Consider the source. This is Port we're talking about. ;-)

Rich, it is fantastic to have you aboard. This is a very interesting place, but you kinda have to stick with it for a while to get the full effect. On any given day it might seem like a complete triviality, but some interesting people post here, including, as you can see in the Celestial Forum, Dan Vogel, a prolific author and editor of books on Mormonism. Also, Daniel Peterson has come here pretty regularly. Dr. Peterson is a professor at BYU and one of the leading figures of LDS apologetics. Uncle Dale posts here now and then. He is one of the most consistent proponents of what is commonly referred to as the Spalding Theory of Book of Mormon authorship. Many of the other board participants have advanced degrees in a variety of fields, and some post from outside of North America. We even have a bona fide board prophet, our very own Nightlion, who claims that he has been called of God to receive messages for humankind through the medium of a mountain in Utah he calls the "Apocalrock."

Dean Gadianton P. Robbers, Doctor Scratch, and I (Reverend Severus M. Kishkumen), are on the faculty of Cassius University, an institution of higher learning that focuses particularly on the study of Mopologetics, a malignant form of LDS apologetics.

Some of our other board members have or appear on podcasts. See Mormon Expression podcast on iTunes, hosted by our own John Larsen.

Again, welcome!

Hey, you guys (men and women) are great!

Liz, I thank you for helping with my awkward introduction.

Kishkumen, I did a bit of reading and I already knew that Dan Vogel was here, as well as Daniel Peterson; I also saw posts from Uncle Dale. I have done much research at his site and it is in my links pages.

I might know a bit more about the Mormon community that what it appears; but, thanks all the same.
MrStakhanovite, Simon actually made a good point. I do need to change the Church name. Yet, thanks for the warning.

Simon, I am going to do my best to watch out for you. You may be a crafty one?

Now that I’m here I think I’ll just do some reading for a while unless people keep addressing my initial posts. I will not be rude.

People already know who I am and I am happy to be on board.

Thank you.

Welcome! This is a much better forum for you than NOM. I, personally, have loved NOM but it fills a very specific niche that you just don't fit.

I think you will like it here, but there is a lot of debating. It's pretty easy to avoid the threads that go south.

Hey Rich... meet Simon Belmont. Simon will demand CFR's and ask you many questions, but he won't answer them when asked. If you're lucky, you'll get a question "answered" with another question, but it's mostly childish rhetoric intended to derail. If you'd like an example, ask Simon Belmont to explain what evidence he claims exists to prove the historicity in Mormonism... he'll tuck tail rather quickly.

Welcome to the fray.

Hi Rich!

Maybe you should put Brodie on the shelf and get a copy of Rough Stone Rolling by Richard Bushman. Brodie can be a little outdated these days.
I intend to lay a foundation that will revolutionize the whole world.
