This place has become far, far too toxic to justify any further participation. Not even Wade can likely convince me to stay around any longer, on the pretext of keeping at least some apologetic presence on this board for the sake of, perchance, mellowing some hearts and minds.

You're the most toxic and reactionary poster I've ever met, blind to anything but your own narrow, rigid dogma and ideology. Stop acting like you want to engage in any sort of discussion. You just want somewhere to vent your anger about the fact that the world is rejecting your ideology. Invest in a punching bag or a gym membership, work off the edge there.

This place makes me feel ill and angry, and especially now that in recent weeks the board has been given over primarily to the relentless personal defamation of specific, targeted apologists who threaten to spill the exmo milk, I've come to the end of the line. In this state of mind, neither defending the gospel nor inviting others to return to the fold is in any sense a real possibility for me.

Fin.

You are angry. This board has nothing to do with it. I seriously assume every post you write is punctuated with seething vitriol and spittle on your monitor, keyboard, and mouse. I've never seen you defend the gospel, only launch into immediate attacks using the political positions you hate as epithets. And if you're the measure of a church's membership, not a single sane person would join you.

I seriously don't understand how someone can post this, and a few hours later the same poster is back again on this same board without any kind of explanation of the drastic change of mind that has evidently taken place.

I want to make it plain I have no objection at all to Droopy posting as much as he likes (not that it matters what an anonymous coward thinks, of course). It is just that this rapid reappearance after the very recent and ostensibly definitive door-slamming makes me wonder what what it all means. I don't think I can be the only one.

Droopy,

I think that you need to do what is best for you.

If you feel that MDB is a psychologically unhealthy place for you at the moment, then, by all means, you should take a break.

I will say that, in spite of our differences on issues, I consider you my friend, and I admire what you have accomplished and struggled through. It is not easy to admit to, and conquer alcohol addiction. It is not easy to provide 24 hour care to a spouse with health problems.

You are, at the core, a loving husband and father, and I respect that.

We'll always leave the door open for you.

You haven't noticed that in fact he never left, and had already made several new posts before you posted this? Or has he done this act so often before that it no longer seems odd - just some kind of nervous tic?

Whether or not he leaves or stays does not change my feelings in the above post.

Perhaps your determined exercise of charity towards this strange individual may eventually prompt him to try practicing this virtue himself, just to see what it feels like.

Good luck with that.

Then, of course, there is the deep seated neurosis and marked psychological and affectual disorders that both produce and are the product of apostasy from the restored gospel and rebellion against God.

Everyone who ever left the Church, Chap, wanted out for reasons settled deep within the core of their being, and it never has had or ever will have anything to do with the intellect, or scholarship, or critical thought per se.

It's all about the nature of the soil in which the seed is sown.

What possible difference does it make to you or anyone else if he writes a farewell and then changes his mind?

Seriously, you act as though this hasn't happened on the part of other posters, when in fact, it has.

So the hell what?
