Re: Atheists have better sex lives | Daily Mail
One important point that I did not see addressed. Premarital sex often results in unwanted pregnancy (you do all recall that propagation is one of the main purposes of the sex drive) and that is typically bad for society, the unwed mother and often for the child. And this still happens quite often in our society.
I also believe sex is emotionally charged and can bind us to persons in ways that may not be good for the parties involved without certain commitments. The release of oxytocin during sex can further reinforce such a binding.

Bwaaahhaaaaaahha! That was funny. I was wondering what that post from Hoops was about.
So Schmo
What about the consequences of unplanned pregnancy that often results in births outside of wed lock?

While that is a legitimate concern about premarital sex, like anything adults do, they need to do it responsibly. I don't consider unplanned pregnancy a hazard of premarital sex as much as a hazard of irresponsible sex. Married people can have an unplanned pregnancy too, as can people who have affairs.
Using the analogy I started before, some people who drive are irresponsible drivers. Should we ban all driving because some people suffer fatal car accidents?
As I've tried to stress all along, I'm advocating for premarital sex between consenting adults. If you're an adult, it's presumed you take responsibility for yourself. People who don't take responsibility suffer the consequences.
I should also point out that I am not especially in favor of teens having sex (which assumes the premarital variety). But that's not because it's premarital sex, it's because it's adolescent sex. Teenagers are notoriously irresponsible, so they're asking for trouble having sex without taking the responsibility that goes with it.
But I can't see a single real problem with premarital sex between responsible consenting adults.

If you can't see that your limitations are aribtrary and the Christian view is not, then, no, there's really nothing else to say. You'll just have to think it through for yourself.
